Africa was widely covered in the 1980's. Never heard of Band Aid?

During 2004 I have contibuted GBP 120 to UNICEF, £120 to the British
Heart Foundation and I have made a one-off donation to the Disasters
Emergency Relief Appeal within the past few days. I don't think that this
is a large amount, I don't feel better for having done so, but it is all
I can comfortably afford because I am a pensioner on a fixed income.

You said, earlier today (and I quote) -

"I don't have much money right now. But even if I did, I'd try to spend
it equitably for charity, and not just go by whatever gets the most air
time on CNN."

That infers that you haven't made any donations. But it hasn't prevented
you from making totally insentitive statements about a disaster of
massive proportions. And, BTW, what you said about Truman is only your
opinion. Millions of people would agree with you but, equally, millions
would disagree.

I agree totally - see you later in Phuket or Somalia :-)

P.S. for the uninformed many charities keep huge cash balances and spend off
the income not the capital thus ensuring they have long term funds.

P.P.S. I wonder how many art treasures the Vatican has sold to provide funds
for the disaster.

For example July 27, 1976- earthquake in China, Tangshan, official
deathtoll 255,000, unofficial estimates 2 times higher.
The 1990 Iran earthquake killed 50,000.

together.

What percentage of your income does it represent?

It infers nothing. Only you can infer.

Sensitivity is in the mind of the beholder.

So which group is being "insensitive"?

It's a brand name for a disposable bandage.

Just out of interest - does anyone here know anyone directly affect by the
Tsunami ?
