Well thanks to Cindy I have joined (free trial) Ancestory.com and been having some fun on there the past 3 hours, then BRICK WALL 
and I am going cross eyed Googling etc.
I decided to find out about my Grandfathers side, and keep going directly to each one I am at my 5th Grandfather but cannot find when he was born his son was born in 1793 so I assume somewhere around 1775 would be the DOB..it is fun and very very addicting.

As a librarian in an institution that has a lot of local & regional records, I often get emails from folks who want these kinds of lookups. Sometimes I do it for them for free, other times I refer them to our shortlist of local professionals.
I imagine that course at BU would be a good basis for setting up in business..
