Fish n Chips 56...Thankyou for your kind thoughts. Buying the house is going through but the only spark of sunlight is my daughter is really happy about it and like she says we can always rent it out if we want to. Its not far from the beach and in a good area and as I have said there are not many houses to rent in this area. Condo's are not something my OH would do.

between two worlds..I read that book by Josephine Tey it was really good I have it in storage. I will read it again. Always good the second time around. I actually bought it in a second hand book shop a few years ago.

shelley748....So nice to hear from you glad that things are going well. Please keep us informed on what you are doing.

between two worlds..I do email ED now and again although I have not heard from her recently she seemed to be doing better last time I heard from her but that was a few months ago. I know she wished she had saved more money. But then dont we all. If I had known years ago howe difficult things would become I would have set up a special fund "Going Home". Even if I had just put a few dollars in at a time over the years it would have amounted up.

Trotty, you DO deserve that extended holiday in England!!!

Thanks for the mention of ED, it's great to know she's doing better. Hope that's still the case...

Ah sorry for double posting, missed this comment about the Jospehine T book, do read it again, I think it's probably one of those that you get more out of when you read a second time.

I know what you mean, but it being essentially true made it fascinating. In reason, there was no way on earth they should have found the right skeleton at first pass. Sometimes things are eerily unlikely, but those are the things that make life most interesting!

Trotty, if your UK holiday extends anywhere near Norfolk then you welcome to stop by for a cuppa and cake.

Stay warm all you east coasters. We are supposed to get low snow tonight, not low enough to snow at my house, we will get the cold and wind, brrr.
I have been in the California way too long when the weather we have here feels cold, it's probably more like a summer day at Dunrovings house

I was planning on going to NYC for the Westminster Kennel Club Shows this weekend (dog judge) However my daughter and her fiancée are leaving for Tampa in the morning (for a wedding) and so I cancelled this trip that I have attended or judged for 25 years. I think Ontario will be bad. I have a friend who drove to NYC from there today. We has 80F today. Ridiculous.
Sorry I haven't contributed much lately. My divorce was/is very painful (scary) at 69 years of age. How can I start over? Been 40+ years in the USA but have no real reason to stay here. I am in Texas and my children are in New York. No desire to live there. Belfast family not exactly overjoyed....I do hope I fit in.
Trotty True......I am so happy you are well and on our thread again. Like you.....I will have to make some major adjustments.....rental as opposed to a homeowner......two marriges (rich and poor) and not all my dreams will come true xx

So long as you are happy then it's fine.
Maybe you should be doing the rounds, cups of tea from Portsmouth all the way to Glasgow can be had apparently.

Celticspirit, all will work out. I have become a renter for first time in nearly 19 years. I don't miss being homeowner at all and thought I would. I like the freedom and someone else fixing the house! My lease is up in August and then I can do what i want. You may be 69 but you still aren't in your coffin. Your divorce may take time to recover from but move forward with whatever years you may have left. I would give my right arm to have 20 more years with my brother who only died at age 49. I have to move forward without any real friends in the US and a distant but diminishing family in UK. You will do fine my friend - just put one step in front of the other and move forward. As for your Belfast family at end of day it's your life - live it as you will. All the best.
