Hi Cheers,
I really feel for you in your battle with diabetes, I dont have it, but my Daughter does, she has to watch everything she eats like you, and so much that she cant eat, she tries hard and follows all the doctors advice and she still cant seem to loose any weight, and she has to take so many different kinds of meds she said she rattles,

I have known many people with different stages of diabetes through the years,

what comes to mind now is a man I used to work with in Vegas, everyone new him as Yogi, thats what he liked to be called, he was a very funny man, he could make you laugh at the drop of a hat, very likable indeed, he was 6ft 3in tall and very over weight even for his height, I worked with this man for 8 years, he was my age, in the last 2 years of working together ---- before our company had a mass lay off of 34 people including us, ----- I could see every week he looked a little thinner, and then a month went by and then two and three months and he looked considerably less heavy, so I asked him what he was doing, and he said well for starters you see those stairs right ahead there in our building? they were the stairs leading out to the street, there were 72 steps he told me, well for the last 3 months he said Ive been climbing them when I go home,
for the 8 years before that I used to take that escalator
to the right of the stairs he said,
and when he comes to work he walks down those same stairs, every day he did this, and on his days off instead of getting into his car to drive the 3 miles to his favorite store to buy food like he has always done ----- he would WALK there and BACK:)

He said as for food I finally controled most of my cravings, and I just eat what Im supposed to but smaller portions, The last time I saw him he told me that he had lost a ton of weight but it took him a good two years, he did not look like the same man at all, he looked healthy, he said he never gets out of breath anymore, and the meds he used to have to take for everything including for the constant swelling in his legs ----- has been cut in half by his doctor, and he said one day he wont have to take any at all.
Cheers Just you hang in there please, I know its not easy, its hell for you, but just dont give up please.
Take care my friend,
Rodney.

Seems she had a most obnoxious, drunken fellow sitting next to her (in economy). She asked the flight attendant if there was another seat she could be moved to (of course in economy). Flight attendant then came back and escorted her to 1st class!!! My sis said it was the best flight ever for her. This was on British Airways!

Chris

Not quite the same ......once when I mentioned I had worked at British European Airways they pushed us up to Business Class!! Plan to try it again beginning of April on my way to London, Moscow, Belfast, London and Dallas......all BA!! Have you ever thought of flying into Amsterdam or Brussels? One may take pets on board. Then rent a car to go through Chunnel.

Rod,
I'm thinking of the song from Andrew Lloyd Webber "Don't cry for me Argentina"
I'm happy especially since I've seen immediate results for the better.
I went to Costco again today and ended up with a bunch of samples. I can't help it:D I don't think it will effect me too much in fact it may help me from getting my sugar too low.
It's like it being easy to quit smoking and to prove it I quit 5 times yesterday. Fortunately my father had a few words with me when I was about 14 years old so I never started smoking. I think I tried smoking sticky lice and cinnamon sticks.
Cheers

Chris, for now it may be a longish stay - brother not well at all and he wants to visit UK so may be month or two. I'm not yet ready to say I will move to UK for good yet. Good luck whatever you decide.. I think like some I ideally would love to be able to live/work in US and spend 2-3 months in UK. I am entering a career field that may allow me that option..

Totally off topic: birds are singing, sun in shining, Spring is on the way. Bought some blue hyacinths from M & S and they all popped into bloom this week - very overpowering, but a nice reminder of what is to come. Yeah! I love Spring, and Easter and flowers and pastel colours....:):):)

Well today was the day I tried my BIGGGG American pancakes, I found this packet of 4 big thick & fluffy buttermilk pancakes ----- in Iceland ------ already made, you just pop em in oven on gas mark 4 for six minutes, make sure you have a nice bottle of pure maple syrup ready ----- fry a couple of over easy eggs and hey presto absolute heaven :) I cooked em for me and Mum at lunch time today and she loved em as much as I did, ----- no word of a lie these pancakes were just as good as when I cooked em in America ---- or as good as any restaurant over there, ------- and although they come in a package there were no preservatives or additives, I read the ingredients and nothing but food items were in there, Lovely Jubbely :)
