Hi, my husband and I are both Geordies living in NJ for the last 10 years . We miss lots of things even after all this time. Local supermarkets are starting to stock some foods from England i.e. Marmite, Ambrosia rice pudding and Devon custard, Chocolate hobnobs etc. I really miss the BBC and have started listening to BBC radio over the web and watching BBC America.Although he is from Newcastle ( Gosforth) he is a lifelong Sunderland supporter ( no abuse from Newcastle fans please!) he meets up with other fans to watch the games in NYC or Philadelphia. I am from Jesmond. Any other Geordies out there in NJ? http://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

You might try Ajanti in OKC, junction of Penn & NW122nd ... closest to the real thing I've found here. Also, in Tulsa there's a pretty good english pub, The White Lion 6927 S Canton Ave is owned and run by a lady from Liverpool .... I have to go there for my Steak and Kidney Pie fix.

Hello, I'm a Wearsider, will that count? Been here 13 1/2 years now. There's quite a few decent curry houses here in Metro Detroit, as well as Indian grocers where we can buy whatever we need to make our own. It took a while though, we used to drive 30 miles across town 12 years ago just to get a curry!

My brother who has lived in NJ for over 26 years, he says there are a few Indian places to eat near him! Am I jealous, I live in the N.E. corner of Oklahoma, part of the four States. After months of searching I found an Indian restaurant in Joplin, MO, so off my hubby and I went, mouth watering, couldn't wait to get into the place and feast. We were the only people in there, it smelt kinda authentic, food was okish, not great, made my hubby, (who is not used to curry, typical Okie ) pretty ill, anyways it didn't stay in business for very long, so now I go to an international market in Joplin that sells British goodies, and asian spices so make my own, but it would be oh so lovely to order a ruby one night and have it delivered. I also wonder why there aren't many Indian restaurants to eat over here, shame.

My best mate is from Newcastle. Met him when he came to LA 20 years ago and last year he ended up following me to Maine with his wife and Beagle. Never thought I would be mates with a guy from north of Watford! I will tell him to get his Geordie butt on BE.

Still don't understand some of his weird northern expressions!

Hello everyone. I'm from Jarrow but now in the outskirts of Chicago. There are loads of good, authentic curry houses around here - and we can walk to three pubs, although we've only got as far as one!

We've been here six months. We are a five minute drive away from the Metra which gets us into Chicago in about an hour. It is lovely but I am such a woose with cold weather, I just hibernate. We have friends coming from the UK (Darlington) over Spring Break so I hope the weather gets a bit warmer so I can show them the city. We haven't done Navy Pier yet so hopefully we will do that with them.
