Re: What you can't get in Canada TV
Who gets TV through the computer and how? I thought it wasn't possible because of the licencing laws in the UK? I avidly watch all the Brit dramas on BBC Canada, CBC Country Canada and Showcase but it'd be nice to see some of the other shows from back home like 'They Think It's All Over' (if it's still running), talk shows (Graham Norton's on BBC Kids) etc

Re: What you can't get in Canada
Sorry I havn't read the whole thread....its huge.
And I havn't got enough time at the moment.
We too are in Moncton or near it. We are on the Hillsborough road, 10 mins out of Riverview. Been here since May last year.
I can't get gravy granules in this part of Canada although I know some can in different parts of the country.
We have had it smuggled in before, but have now run out.
Thats the only thing I find difficult cos we love gravy and mine is now rubish.
So how do others make gravy that is edible here. Answers on a postcard please.

I love the Hillsborough area! It's the very place that made me know I wanted to live in the Atlantic Provinces! Enjoy!!!

There's no such thing as "prohibitively" when you miss something! Everything has a price and after 4 years of paying top dollar for my English food I really don't care!!!!

Re: What you can't get in Canada
Like many on this forum, I use the meat juices and cornflour (cornstarch here) with veg/potato water added. Sometimes I add a little dehydrated beef bouillon....as much for darkening as extra flavour, depending on the meat and whether it's just portions rather than a whole joint or chicken.
My Canadian wife marvels at it and says it's awesome.
However, those Club House sauce mixes are not bad. Especially the Chicken/Turkey ones. It goes wonderfully on mashed potato/turnip/carrot.
