Wal Mart

The trouble with Wal-Mart has been their success, never in retail history has there existed a corporation that is so large and so powerful, throughout the world.
They dominate the market place and so can dictate their own rules, be they good or bad, and opinions vary widely as to whats good and bad.
A good book to read is:-
The Wal-Mart Effect By Charles Fishman

Have no clue what your dietary habits are. I only know that you consider yourself a liberal and have given his children illegal drugs so that they would not have to buy it on the street.

I'll have a dictionary please Santa. I want to re-check the definitions of libel and slander.

I have seen similar complaints about Loblaws ripping off suppliers.
I should hate Walmart and all it stands for. In fact I do. I don't think they are actually that cheap - most of the stuff anyway. Certainly groceries are cheaper at the alternative supermarkets and electrical items just as cheap or cheaper at Futureshop and Canadian Tire.
I use their pharmacy for a couple of things. Since we can't get medical insurance for pre-existing conditions and the family drugs costs are now over $350 a month and likely to rise if I need insulin (very likely) and this province tells us we can pay in full because we are mortgage free (even though we'd qualify for support on low income levels used in other provinces).....well I forgive myself for saving $15 on identical test strips at their pharmacy and failing to resist the occasional $10 pair of jeans that I see on my way out of the store.

What's with this big outcry about Wal-Mart. Why such a moralistic attitude? Where is that attitude towards crimes in your country, city or province against children, the elderly, the disabled, the poor.
So their products are made in China with what we might call slave labor. They are not the only company in the US or Canada or the world, for that matter, who sell goods manufactured in Asia. Where is your moral indignation against Mattel for having manufactured and having sold tainted toys to children for the last year or so.
If people chose to work for Wal-Mart or Sam's Club it is because the jobs for their skill levels are so few and far between that to feed, clothe and shelter their family or just themselves means they must take whatever job is available.
Very nice to be the cat that sits on the fence and spouts their moral indignation while they have the financial ability to own their own homes, purchase clothing made in Europe, organic foodstuffs, the big SUV, the newest electronic toys in your homes and cars, a well paying job and all the money they brought over from the UK with the excellent exchange rate.
BTW have you checked the brands you buy in No Frills, or Zeller's or any of the supermarkets for labels that say made in China.
The only moral indignation I have is with shortsighted people who feel it is their way or no way. Let's hope none of you have to scrape by in life. You would have to eat your moral indignation and it won't taste so good even with Cadbury Chocolate from the UK.
