I'm presuming then that if you knew your children were doing drugs then you'd prefer them to go into the worst areas of a city to buy their own, instead of trying to ensure their safety and health. Also, the post you refer to says daughter (singular, not plural). Just theorising here of course. If it were necessary, if it was my family, and if I were in a position to do so, I'd probably do the same as Dbd. I'm pretty sure Dbd's daughter is well over 19 if I remember correctly.

I'm so happy to know that most people are on here are human, make human mistakes, and for the most part can speak their mind freely. I realise there has to a certain amount of common sense applied evenly across the forum, but though MJ is illegal in Ontario but legal in B.C. Does that make it morally wrong in both Provinces, or just Ontario for instance?

We all make our own lifestyle choices. I consider myself a liberal too.

Well, this is different. A board where the mods stir the pot, so to speak.

"as a parent i will shop where i want to"

If the likes of some don't like it - tough

Also for people looking for jobs in walmart they do a better HOUR rate than alot of companys, depends on the level that you discuss in interview....plus your benenfits are good.

No i didnt end up working for them, but when i'm ready to go back to work i'd rather be there than some stores locally

Mandi you are so right, clothes are so cheap...good old walmart...let them build more
This is the kind of person Walmart caters to, the reason they have been able to drive down wages, create a poisonous work environment (info from good sources, in the UK and here) keep slavery alive and well, decimate most communities they move into, insisting on being on the edge of town usually on agricultural land. Walmart will thrive and continue to grow because there are so many people just like this.

For what's it worth, I am a person and not just a mod. I didn't post as a mod but as a person with a view point. No I would never buy drugs for my daughters and in fact I divorced their father who offered to do just that for them if they ever wanted to sample illegal drugs. Thankfully, they told me and it was one of the reasons he was out of their lives.

On that note,

Merry Christmas to One and All

Fair point there Rete, but posts from someone with moderator under their name can appear to some to carry more credibility on any forum than an exact same post from the same person without the moderator tag.

I'd like to suggest that the moderators be required to use one non-moderator account for regular posting and another account purely for use when they have the moderators hat on. I realise that everyone is only supposed to have one account per person, but I'm sure the moderators can be excepted for a trial period to test this system.

Merry Christmas to you too.

A moderator is presumably responsible for monitoring and 'moderating' site content, with this one inevitably loses the opportunity to voice individual viewpoints. It is a bit like a manager employee relationship. If a member cannot accept this as a part of that responsibility then perhaps they should not be moderating.

It is a bit like a manager joining in, instead of resolving an employee conflict.

I brought my xmas tree/32in Sony Bravia/kids electronic xmas presents from Wal-mart .. i thought the place was OK, cheap and cheerful but then i am used to living in Leicester (UK) .. lol ..

The last time i was there, one of the staff was moaning that people don't put back the DVD's properly and she had spent 2 hours sorting them out in the morning .. I told her "if people didn't make a mess then she wouldn't be cleaning them up thus having a job " it went down OK, i could of worded it differently though .. i am slightly ashamed for saying it .. but it is the blunt truth.

Don't worry, she probably didn't understand anyway... I find myself repeating what I've said to get my Lesta accent understood...

That post, and I quote it here completely:

"Marijuana is illegal in Toronto like exceeding the speed limit in a car is illegal. We're not great smokers, a quarter lasts us three months and I haven't lit up for a year and a half, but we always have some weed for visitors; the accountant, my colleagues, one of my daughters and so on. If we go to the pub, any of the local pubs, there's always a joint on offer. In our champagne socialist corner of town tobacco smoking is a greater taboo than marijuana.

Oddly enough, this is true of much of the US as well, I've brought weed back from Florida (a shrink wrapped brick), Texas and California as trinkets for friends and family and last summer we brought back my virtual-mother-in-law's Vietnam era paraphernalia as an heirloom.

In North America marijuana use is common but to some extent it's of an era, something more popular among people of an age. We might liken it to bitter in the UK, not an old person's drink like stout or mild but not fashionable among the louts of today either."

was from 2005. It's nice that someone remembers.

I haven't lit a joint from then to now but we still keep a bag for visitors and my partner smokes now and then. I can't say whether or not either of my adult daughters has smoked here any more than I can say whether or not they've had Marmite here. It's here, it's offered, make your own choice. I can say that the autistic one has had no more than second hand smoke.

It's another thing though, eh? Cocaine use is a decision with a moral dimension, it's imported, crime is involved, it's like shopping at WalMart. Marijuana use is supporting local farmers, it's ethically correct, chose not to smoke if you wish but you're letting the side down.

May I say, btw, that throwing "Merry Christmas" on the end of your spiteful posts makes you no less old and no less crabby.

And as an adult - it is my choice on where i do my shopping
I know girlies that work in the local store and i have to admit that since arriving the place is great for me and my family.
Many stores in the uk can be called like this, but they still carry on.

What about the dollar stores, the liq centres etc etc
These are as bad, the wages are not great at walmart, but they are $2 hr better than real canadian, so overall i have no complaints with them.

Yeah i get what i pay for, i'm happy with that
And i do not like your tone on - THIS KIND OF PERSON............do you know me???????????????

NO ... i think not......:curse:

Well, maybe I should have rephrased that to read "people who feel like that about Walmart....." I have no opinion on you, the person, one way or the other. Other than I don't like your tone either, but that's inconsequential.

Then you shouldn't judge someone by how they shop or more to the point on where they shop..........
i would never slaughter someone for having different morals to me and yes it does happen on a daily basis...
Just because one person does xxxx does not make them a better or worse person to me.

I have read the reports on walmart, also seen the employee side to walmart, also seen the wages compared to others in this area and they do pay better.
i choose to shop in walmart

Like others have said.....good policy
