Current bids for NUFC include:-

"The amount I am offering is £10. Should I be successful, I will be appointing myself as team manager, as I am currently in a management role in the Peterlee Sunday League."

"The amount I am offering is 2 x upper concourse seats for the Oasis concert at the Stadium of Light and a Curly Wurly."

That's only 100,000 Newcastle supporters paying £1,000 each.

Real Madrid bought Kaka for 60 milion pounds for an extra 40 they could have had kaka coming out of their ears plus the 'venerable' Sid James Park .

Now Real (finally) have Ronaldo (not the fat one) for £80M

The cynic in me says there is no way this is "real" money ('scuse the pun) they are spending, its just more debt that the Spanish government will bail them out off. UEFA/FIFA really need to get something in place regarding the debt level of clubs, otherwise there are going to be some very high profile casualties.

I expect man U to make some high profile signings in the coming weeks. I hate to say it, but its probably a move that will make them even stronger. He's fantastically gifted, but surely a monumental pain in the arse to have around? Is there anyone more high maintainence? Hell, Rooney might get to play in the middle now (nah..we will just see more of berbatov, and perhaps tevez).

That sort of money in the man U coffers is going to make it even harder for liverpool to land the missing pieces...assuming that they dont use it pay down the debt at the club (like that would ever happen!)

Drogba comes to mind.

I agree with you that if, and this is a big if, Man U get the 80 UKP million quickly, they could get some big name players (hopefully w/o the prima donna attitude and guys who won't throw their toys out of the pram) that could only strengthen Man U (probably not what many want to hear) and they could gently show some players out the door (Scholes, Giggs and a big kick out the door to Gary Neville).

Oh yeah, I forgot about le sulk...if truth were to be told, many of the french players in the Premier League have been high maintenance...Henry and Viera excepted.

Yes, it's also got me wondering if they'd be tempted to make a bid for Gerrard. I mean if they make a seriously large offer, how can Liverpool refuse?

I get the impression with Drogba that it was strictly footballing reasons why he was getting pissed off and shooting his mouth off. With Ronaldo its all to do with how much more money he can make elsewhere.

Ive nothing against players moving for more money, but there are far classier ways to go about it than Ronaldo has shown. Still, I guess he's still pretty young, maybe there is hope for him yet to develop some class off the pitch, and no one in spain will care how much he dives.

Agreed. Is it just my opinion, olr does anything happening in English soccer draw unwanted interference from Septic Bladder whereas much more serious issues (such as setting off flares in Italy) are ignored.

That sort of money in the man U coffers is going to make it even harder for liverpool to land the missing pieces...assuming that they dont use it pay down the debt at the club (like that would ever happen!)
