Glasgow Celtic are apparently after him now :frown:

As you don't know about him I'll update you, he's the 36 year old manager of Swansea, who's become the flavour of the month as the next big thing.

Has Swansea playing fantastic entertaining football, getting us promoted from League One more than 10 points clear in his first full year as manager and then guiding us to 8th in the Championship, all on a shoestring.

Some Newcastle fans have also identified him as their choice for manager (which would be a preference to me if we're going to lose him, rather than than him go to Wigan or Celtic).

Thanks. I'm not used to paying much attention to the Championship.

First big signing of the summer, not that he's after the money rather than European football

As the article points out though, at City and Villa he'd be almost guaranteed a place in the starting XI, whereas at any of the top 4 (except maybe Arsenal) he'd probably be used as part of a squad rotation.

I agree it's for the money though.

And it looks as though Real have signed Kaka for 56 million GBP

The thing is that for anyone to compete with the big four they have to have a big squad and be able to rotate.

In the event Man City are (one day) able to make a genuine challenge (and look how long it took Chelsea to make an impact once they had blank cheques) he may find he gets rotated anyway.

At Liverpool he'd have at least been virtually guaranteed a share of CL appearances.

Even if Man City were to get fourth next season, the seaon following they'd be playing off (in the new system) against the likes of Juventus or Milan rather than going straight into the league format.

Barry could be past 30 by the time Man City succeeded and he might be much less a permanent feature in a team by then.

They're mad. They could've bought the Toon for that.

Amid rumours that the Sultan of Oman is interested in buying NUFC, my favourite fan site posted this image...

The loss was mainly due to the £36m of interest payments..

Er, what's wrong with this picture... writing-off debt payments as losses, separating debt and profitability (and liability?) by using a parent company which owes an outrageous amounts of money. They make it all sound so trivial...
