Now I know there are quite a few ABUs but I came across this 35 minute programme about Punk Football and in particular on FC United of Manchester.
I encourage you to view it as I found it interesting from a common fan view

I wouldn't say so but we are looking more like favourites after this weekend.

"..I think they want all the pubs shut down, I think they want everyone sat at home watching a thousand channels of shite and voting for it on your mobile phone, taking money out of you while your sat in your favourite armchair.."
Something needs to be done about the amount of £££ in football, but it will never happen. A salary cap would be a good idea. Stopping foreign (non-EU) ownership would be another good one too.

I don't think anyone can argue with the sentiment. Professional sports teams were founded and built by their communities. Once the TV money and corporate sponsorship arrives these communities become quickly forgotten to build a brand and line the pockets of the people at the top....In the end greed always wins...it is the notion of greed that is the founding principle of capitalism after all.
Man Utd or Darlington it didn't matter you could afford to go and also attend several away trips.
I started going in the late 60s as a kid with my dad or on my own. I stopped going in the mid to late 80s as I moved to Canada. Sure compared to now some of the smaller grounds would now be considered shitholes but in those days it didn't matter. At half time you could still afford to buy a Bovril and a pie.
Corporate boxes didn't exist and sponsorship was minimal if non existent. Teams had 2 x shirts and didn't find a need to change them every year and decide to go with Nike or Adidas.
No agents demanding multi thousand pound salaries a week and players would take a bus to the ground not showing up in Bentleys and Ferraris.
Turn up on the day and pay your way in unless you were rich and could afford season tickets.
Given a choice today Old Trafford or Gigg Lane (FC Uniteds shared ground) Im thinking Gigg Lane would win out.
Watching Rooney yesterday on 200 grand a WEEK was a disgrace to all fans of any team.

($CDN 550k)Wasnt his toe crocked a week or two ago? He played with painkilling injections against Bayern. Its not really a surprise he wasnt up for it with nothing to play for this year.
Much as I agree with the sentiments about money in the game, that is not the players fault. And the game on view now is a million miles from what it was in the 60s and 70s.
I suspect that many chairmen through the league make a net loss from their involvement too. Financially secure well run clubs are few and far between, and when the ratings drop and TV gets bored of footy and the money dries up there is going to be an awful reckoning.

Cant really argue with that. Football is no longer a sport its a business model. Gone are the days where the average working class man could afford to take his kid(s) to a football game be it at Old Trafford or any of the other 91 grounds when there were 4 divisions.

City still have the Everton away fixture which could undo them.
Chelsea will be kicking themselves over some of the unexpected results they've had in the the last month or two. That 2 points over 2 games is a lot. I don't think they can win the league but I do have a feeling that they may sneak the European Cup. Could see Arsenal out of the CL next year.

I think your lot will do it. They might have to put 8 past the Toon in the last match, but that shouldn't be a problem given the way we've fallen apart since flogging Cabaye and pissing off Ben Arfa.
