ONeil is really the only viable available option (until Woy H gets the boot) when taking into account the reason given for ditching poor Chris Huyton was a need for greater premiership experience. Others like Curbs or Pardew have some, but not at a high level as ONeil. I suspect it was a done deal some time ago to be honest. O'Neill won't take it- the reason he left Villa was because the chairman refused to give him additional funds to strengthen. He wants to manage a club capable of winning the premiership and where is provided with the resources to do so. Everybody knows Mike Ashley is not the chairman to help a manager realise that dream. It'll be Curbishley or Pardew. With out funds to strengthen the squad no manager will take over from Hughton and outperform him. |

I don't think Newcastle has much global appeal- hasn't Mike Ashley been trying to sell it for several years now??? By the way Liverpool are 2-0 up against Villa. I think Liverpool would be foolish to sack Hodgson. Again a good manager who has had no funds and inherited an ageing team. |

If Huyton was acked due to limited Premiership experience, surely Ashley knew that when he hired him. How does one get Premiership experience without managing a Premiership team? |

OK the last two away games at Stoke and WBA have been awful, but they drew with Chelsea in between and have Nolan, Barton, Williamson and Collicini (plus several others) out on either injuries or suspensions. Sacking the only manager around who is (was) willing to try his hand without a budget or complaints about not having a budget is ludicrous.
Ah well. it was quite nice in the Championship. |
