Sweden has the most welcoming asylum policies and most generous welfare programs in the European Union....a monthly living allowance of more than $700 (U.S.). $700(US) is 5,783 Krona. That won't pay half your shared flat (let alone anything else). Average monthly income is 30k. |

Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
This comment from the Globe and Mail article is so important and so relevant to so many countries. "Yet Sweden’s acute immigration problems scarcely feature in the mainstream media. Journalists see their mission as stopping racism, so they don’t report the bad news." Apparently most Swedish newspapers have now even gone as far as banning comments because they are "divisive"

Have you seen the cost of living in Sweden? There's little point in mentioning a monthly income without some reference to costs.
$700(US) is 5,783 Krona. That won't pay half your shared flat (let alone anything else). Average monthly income is 30k. In BC but in CAD $ a single gets up to $610 per month for assistance and that is certainly nowhere close to being able to provide 2 basic needs housing and food. I can't imagine 700 US in Sweeden gets a person very far. |

A rather interesting article on Sweden and its perceived migrant problem.
Part of the article are views given by a migrant about how Sweden is having problems and the Swedish press are somewhat reluctant to report these stories. Now Im guessing certain posters will not believe this article and say that it is just fear mongering or a slanted view by a reporter with no factual basis. Read it for yourselves and you be the judge. Also rumours that certain EU countries might want to shut their borders or at least impose checks Sweden’s ugly immigration problem - The Globe and Mail |
Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
That's the sad thing. If these people were white we wouldn't have certain individuals on here complaining about the refugee situation. Hopefully the children they moved for don't turn out as bigoted.

Re: Syrian refugee crisis.
The one issue that doesn't seem to have been discussed is health care. Many Canadians don't have access to a family doctor, wait months for an appointment with specialists and up to two years to have certain types of surgery, Emergency room waits of hours to days. Many of these refugees will have medical issues - is there any plan on how the authorities plan on dealing with this important issue.

I doubt another 50,000 to 100,000 refugees will alter a system that looks after 30 million plus all that much. Many of these refugees will probably be health professionals too. |

Just put them in the same system as everyone else.

Do you honestly think that they shouldn't jump through the same hoops as the other doctor and nurse immigrants... That comment says it all. Maybe you do, maybe they should bypass professional barriers that are put in place to supposedly protect the Canadian public... It wouldn't surprise me. I have kept quiet until you stumbled into healthcare then you clearly expose your lack of factual knowledge and just bumble on with suppositions and presumptions |
