And drop Bopara, he doesn't have the temperament for test cricket.

Oops...

Agree about Bopara, but who to replace him with ? Compton ? Big ask to make your debut against Steyn et al

AS a Yorkshireman, it pains me to say it, but Big Tim needs to make way for Finn.

Also concerned that Swann may not be 100% fit.

We were demolished - better get ready to hand over the mace...

England must win against SL or face elimination. Match on now.

Well its not the summer but our lads are back at it on the sub-continent. 1st day, India are 112 for none just before lunch. Hmm, seems like a slightly anaemic attack. ANyway if you want to check the game out this stream is working at the moment.

oops...perhaps we should have picked Monty after all.

Still, Swanny still in with a shout at all 10, as the rest of the attack look like they couldn't buy a wicket.....and then we get a chance to bat

It was painful to watch. You might as well have four spinners. The pitch was like a dead sponge, the seamers got nothing. We never learn down there.

How long is it since an international Test side opened their bowling with two spinners? India were pretty close - they had Zaheer Khan on for, what, four overs before bringing Ojha in to partner Ashwin, and gave Yuvraj Singh a go, too, before the close.

Not impressed with the decision not to play Panesar. Even two spinners would be two too few on this pitch, but going in with only one specialist is silly. KP and Samit Patel did their best to support Swann, I'm sure, but this is going to be a rout.

England's only hope, I guess, will be to build a modest lead after the inevitable follow-on and use the unpredictability of the fourth-innings track to bamboozle India. I'm not holding my breath.
