So what do you all drive??????
Your better halves round the bend - per chance?
Snow tires - fluffy kittens... Block heaters - shiny, new shoes... Legislation, ASD, good/bad road conditions...
Small wonder there are few females left on this thread; perhaps their response might be to just drive slowly and safely. Simple.
But then we all know which gender (regardless of road conditions) is the more safety-conscious. Just ask the insurers....
Does anybody get any work done around here?

In most provinces it's not lawful for insurers to keep that data. They certainly can't discriminate based on their perception of differences in the driving of males and females.

Are you sure about that...thats the whole basis of what actuaries do isnt it? Studying statistics and descriminating based on the data?

The case for winter tires over all seasons is quite sensible.
The real problem in the GTA is more between all seasons in good condition and more common partially bald tires.
People here run the tires right down to the minimum legal wear guide, which is quite unsuitable for winter conditions.
The tire may leave the factory with good snow handling, but after a year the seeps in the tread are noticably worn, by year two they have almost gone and the harder compound is all that’s left.
On our escape we replace the front tires each year, move them to the rear, effectively getting two years of life out of each set, as wear on the rear is significantly lower than the front.
But many locals will try and get three to four year of life out of a set of tires

The winter tires on my Focus are on there third season and now showing noticeable reduction on the depth of the seeps, They will need to be replaced next season, I think my all seasons will now make at least four possibly five summers

I'm pretty sure it's true for AB, we did something similar for AB policies though the details escape me now.
Of course, the companies use other measures to try and get the same result but they can no longer discount premiums for women just because they have less accidents.
A nice example of the law of unintended consequences was that the introduction of the NL law banning sex discrimination resulted in several companies giving up on the small market there - it would have cost more to change their systems than the business was worth. I suppose this resulted in higher, if equal, premiums for all.

Is that so? Never mind - what about personal experience then?
Women (in general) take fewer risks, and that of course includes driving. We might have crap spatial awareness, struggle with maps and don't like motorways, but we do play it safe - by & large.
Who needs the stats? No one is in full agreement except using good old common sense. I couldn't get my car over the slope near my house last week in the Artic conditions. Mind you, that was before I got myself an education about snow tires....

Oh and btw, I drive a Vauxhall Corsa 1.7 Diesel I.
No idea about the tires; I can just about remember to check the pressure. I do know, not good in snow though.
Hey, that rhymes!

although I dont think it necessarily gives info on tire performance per se.. just the coefficient of friction of various road conditions.
