No. When I go back to visit I don't need a rental car. The village my mum lives in has buses every half hour. I can easily get to Northampton, Cambridge, Oxford and plenty of other places by bus. There's a train service.
Here we have one bus a week to Peterborough.

Accountability. At least at a lower level.
Contact your MP and the issue will be investigated with those involved having to explain or correct if something went wrong.

Re: Say something good about the UK
I have been home for 4 years now and we will be visiting NS in August. My eldest returned there last March so we will be visiting her and friends, which I am really looking forward to.
I really love the UK, and now I am home and happy, I can appreciate Canada more and look back with some fond memories. I am grateful for Canada. Both my husband and I had good jobs, we had great friends and a beautiful house.
But, I don't believe education is better and I certainly don't believe kids are better off there. My eldest spent her teen years there and she was a nightmare, out drinking and skipping school. She barely scraped by to get her diploma.
That said, It wasn't all bad, just not really for me. I can appreciate it being an amazing place if you're not running from the UK and if you like the quieter lifestyle.
So, things I love about the UK:
Access to unrivalled beautiful countryside which is free to roam on. Canada has so much land, but most of it is trees and inaccessible.
Beautiful historic buildings; castles, Tudor houses & other listed buildings, cathedrals, churches, etc...
Variety in landscape.
Beautiful little villages.
Good shopping; food & clothes. Excellent internet shopping.
Spring comes early with bluebells, daffodils, and grass!
Better driving experience.
Variety in cars. What is the fascination with trucks anyway?
London I have the Countryside on my doorstep, but can be in London in an hour.
Able to walk my large dog off lead so he can run.
Easy access to Europe.
Just life really. I feel alive.
I'm sure there is much more, but it's early and my brains not engaged yet!

We have just come back from a trip to Bali & I virtually said the same thing to MrBEVS about NZ.

Few weather extremes - in terms of frostbite or melting or snow piled up against your front door - and no mozzies.

Oh the screens are great.
I remember reading that mozzies were being seen around Kent but I don't know if they were significant in number or if they got further.
At least 'European' mozzies tend to be dusk till dawn rather than all day long.
When I had the duplex I was paying someone to cut the grass over there and I pay my stepson (his only income ) to do it at home. A major reason for me not doing it is mozzies

Another good thing:
The smell of a good chippy wafting up your nose as you're driving past (just passed one).
