The shock of these things often sets in once home, poor Piff. The rear ending not Rodders .

Did you go to the dogs?

Big year back home. 2 neices and a nephew turned 18 in the last few weeks.

Time sure does fly.

2 of the 3 are going to college.

Who would have thought pushing airplanes backwards would be the best part of my job.

This made me smile, when I was learning to fly, especially in the winter the very nice dispatch guys would keep the plane in the hanger so that i could do my walkround in the warm, they'd often push the plane out while i was getting myself settled ( a long task when you are as uncoordinated as me.)

When i eventually got my head up out of the cockpit I'd realise that I was somewhere completely different on the apron and hadn't even noticed them pushing me back !!!

JS you should consider your statements as positives. Don’t think they are negatives.
You are lucky to have family. I know an old guy who lives in an old RV all year round. The only company he has is his dog. A couple of years ago I contacted his daughter who lives in the US. She’s a “friend” of his on fb. She was not interested. She’s his only family...
You are lucky to have a job you enjoy, even if your coworkers are younger than you. My husband lost his job a year ago because his boss didn’t like him. He had done nothing wrong. Just clashed with the boss. Even HR seemed embarrassed he was being terminated...
Fast forward 11 months. He still doesn’t have a job. His self esteem has plummeted and the longer it takes the harder it is to get employers interested in his resume.
He’s 54 on Saturday. Employers write him off when they see the gap in his employment and work out how old he is!
I’m not writing this so you can feel sorry for us but to encourage you to embrace life and what you have.

Enjoy every single day, life really is a gift!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and wishes and offers.. I really do appreciate them and the heartfelt caring behind each and every one of your posts.

I'm going through a bit of a fugue right now, and just wish life would go back to normal.. I don't like feeling scared like this. I'll pick myself up again, it will pass - it's common to feel this way, apparently.

:)

Hey my  I think what you're feeling now is perfectly normal, I went through some huge roller-coaster emotions two years ago after my scare, and felt really alone when I left hospital.

But you're quite right, it will pass.

Hugs. And stay strong.

I am sure it is common to feel like that, something scary happened and it's not quite over, you have a new sense of safety to get used to. Hugs xx I'm avoiding driving right now, never done that before todays excuse is it's too sunny and my eye hurts too much ho hum.

Someone once told me the best thing to do is get in the car asap and drive. The longer you leave it...the worse it is. I took that advice and drove a few hours after an accident. I thought every car was going to hit me...but that passes in time. Good luck.

Today is the 1st day I've been able to open my eye fully. I told my husband I was making silly excuses not to drive because i was frightened. He made me drive him to his work, he'd forgotten his phone, so that was highway and then back thtough town, stopping for some supper. I feel quite proud of myself:eek::rofl::thumbsup:

Hope you recover quickly and that you are able to get over this horrible event. So glad you are ok xxx

Depends where you are. I've had stuff sent from London by Fedex to Toronto and Vancouver and it got there next day. No chance of that where I live now.

London/Indianapolis/Mirabel/Ottawa. Stuff always gets opened by Customs in Ottawa and doesn't make it onto the delivery truck before it goes out. Customs don't work at weekends or on public holidays. A package sent to me from London at lunchtime on the Wednesday before Easter got to me on the Tuesday. That doesn't quite beat the previous best of eight days.

The more egregiously stupid part of this is that the character of the journalist who breaks open a lot of the Rob Ford story has been recast as a man. In real life it was Robyn Dolittle and she's rightfully pissed off about it.

Perhaps because the actress thought about for the part would want equal pay with Damian Lewis.

That's Vancouver for ya.

600k can get you no lot, and 650as feet of living space plus 300 or 400 a month in strata fees.

My nephew turned 18 today. He was supposed to be born in June but was premature.

Nothing like going down to go to work and finding scooter not working.

Taxis to work it is.

Wish there could be one month where we dont have an issue and could pay actual bills.

If its not a cheap fix will need to leave job.

Taxis are not a viable solution.

I know the feeling.

Ever since 2005 something always got in the way of being able to buy the equipment to play my UK VHS tapes. There was always some other unexpected expense...expensive drugs, other medical equipment, wheelchair, stove packing up, rogue tenant, professional nuisance tenant, heat pump system needing replacement, rogue tenant (again)...

Last year I got an increase in my survivor's OAS and more than every cent has gone to two dentists. :(

True. My comparison was Vancouver to Sydney, NS. Just found it amusing they still call the service priority overnight and overnight when in fact it takes 3 days.

UPS is 2 days, and quickest for Canada Post is 3 days.

We can dream I suppose. One day if the lottery actually works properly and we win maybe the dream will become true.
