At school I remember Easter biscuits that were pretty horrible - all the currants were burnt.

Aside from Easter eggs I don't recall any other edible treat at Easter.

I remember the 70's (I was 5 1/2 when they began) and believe me you're not missing much. It was the decade that taste skipped over. When you think of bad fashion, bad music, bad tv, bad architecture, bad car design, bad crazes/fads, just think of the 70's.

I’ve offered too. Although we’ve never met we live very close to each other. I’m hoping she will take up the offer of help now or even later when she’s home if she needs it 😊

I'm tempted to ask what we can do to help, but that's really annoying and puts the onus on you to make decisions when you should be resting. So, here's one specific question for you: do you have somebody looking after houseplants/pets/etc? If not, shout - and the western GTA/Hamilton contingent of BE will be on it!

It sounds like you may have gotten away with a warning on this one, and can be fixed up and monitored in an effort to prevent the next one. Take it easy, rest up, follow doctors' orders, and get well soon :)

I dont recall fashion of the 80s and early 90s being all that grand.

Our house was basic brown carpet and white walls and that pop corn ceiling popular at the time.

Thing about the early 90s fashion and well mid 90s is the 20 somethings of today are dressing like early to mid 90s.

The fashion wasnt good then and its not now...ha ha

Looking back hardest thing about getting older is its difficult to compete with more educated and skilled 20 somethings.

Wife and I are we.

There was a small flood this morning which also caused a small flood to the business below us and several other issues that have occurred since Friday that have created a mess, and on top of it, I have been ill all week with fever and respiratory problems.

Well, I appreciate that's a bad day. But remember there are literally dozens of people on here who can offer real support in time of need.

This is a Brit forum, we like the direct approach. A direct request for specific help will likely see you overwhelmed with support. A series of vague hinted problematic posts? Nah... doesn't usually work.

It was just a bit of a vent as it was a rough morning and dealing with all while being ill made it more frustrating to deal with.

There is too much risk, too high a risk of heart attack brain bleed or stroke during sugery, so no operation for 3 months unless it's an emergency. I am in danger of stroke or heart attack for next 3 months. I see the neurologist in 2 weeks, the stroke team around the same time and the vascular surgeon in 3 2weeks. I will have to return if I have issues with my arm/hand (I am at risk of losing the use of my arm due to a blood clot); or chest pains or head pains. Aslo have another CAT scan before they can consider surgery. I was very sick over the weekend from the meds, but I have new ones now which I will be on for life. They will help to stablise the soft plaque that are throughout my arteries including my brain. But overall I am doing good xxx

Thanks for the kind offers and wishes, much appreciated.

Souxie that all sounds like it's a lot to get your head around. Accept the help from those nearby and know that those further away would be there if we could be.

This is going to be a difficult time for you. It's a whole lot to wrap your head around and I can't say much more than hang in there. Waiting is never easy especially when you know there are risks involved.

As for meds I know you are not complaining about them but I can't help but think of what a cardiologist told me years ago during one of my many hospital visits, better living through chemistry. ;)

Take things easy and I wish you all the very best.
Steve

That must be quite troublesome, I hope you're able to think of other things so as not to worry yourself into illness. Do you have constant company or some means of making the appropriate people aware should you think either of them imminent? I'm thinking of something like the alert buzzer my mother has around her neck.

I also agree with this statement from Piff Poff....

Siouxie, people would love to help......as you have obviously been so helpful and supportive to all of us that know you, don't try and struggle on your own...

Sending you my continuous best wishes, this is such a tough time for you.

If you fancy an interesting day out on Saturday consider going to Oakville to the open day at The Lions Foundation for Dog Guides Canada. There's a tour of the facility as well as demonstrations by the dogs. They train, Autism Assistance dogs, diabetes alert, seizure response, hearing ear, special skills, and vision.
Plus you get to see puppies

On the mend?

I just thought I'd mention something that came up before. It's not of use to you as it's for people 12-21, but it's an example of more enlightened attitudes and change for the better. I remember saying that the "right noises" were being made here but it remained to be seen how it went. Maybe things are actually not that bad for services here, after all.

In the paper today...New Youth Mental Health walk-in clinic to open.
Because of the concern about people on a waiting list with wait times of up to two months, they're opening a walk-in clinic here.

I can't post a link as it's subscription based but I did find this CBC report. I'm not sure if the one in the paper is in addition or they've moved and run it on a different day, but the CBC report gives an idea of what's available

There is a good amount of options for youth here as well in Vancouver.

There is also a walk in type mental health facility at Vancouver General Hospt for most age groups.

Good for Moncton to get more options open.

I am still trying to get rid of this bug. Some sort of respitory illness.

I felt better yesterday so went to work but left after 8 hours and went home early as by 8p, I was not feeling well.

I think being out in the cold and wet yesterday was too much.

Today feeling okay but still get short of breath when working.

Seems to be passing though.

Been a heck of a winter for being sick.

I had a cold in Nov.

Sore throat in Dec.

A cold is Jan and one in Feb. and then now at the start of April.

Gonna be sore, probably have panda eyes, got a collar thingy on, but I'm ok. Paramedics impressed by the hit my car got and the lack of serious injury.

Glad to go hear it, the lack of serious injury part. For the soreness I'd suggest finding a good physio who can do some clever stuff with soft tissues.

Glad you had no serious injuries.

20 or so years ago I was in an accident at highway speed.

Other then some bruises, I was not hurt. When the firefighters arrived they were a bit surprised I was out of the car and walking.

The car was in bad shape.

Had to climb out the window.

Sorry to hear this, but glad to hear you are mostly OK.

Talk to your insurance about physio and see if they'll sort it with the other company. The other person is at fault so your insurance should be able to help so you avoid the hassles.
