The fact that you can joke so heartily about someone else's tragedy says a lot about you all.

Nobody is joking about a tragedy. There's a difference.

Love is most certainly not in the air.... This forum and the Canada one have become very bad tempered of late, everyone seems to be having a go at everyone else. I'm wondering if they have put something in the drinking water.

We should create a positive thread... I did just that a couple of years ago in response to somebody creating a negative thread... The negative thread still got way more comments.... Bah humbug.... (just practising!!)

I'm happy. I already have about 120lbs of red spring salmon neatly and securely vacuumed packaged in my big freezer. And this run is not over yet. :fingerscrossed:

Wow, missed a bullet there. Us white salmon need to keep out of your way then. Just joking.. we taste just as nice... we simply moan a lot more even when there's nothing to moan about.

On my third cup of tea now.

I like white spring as well and those big hogs should arrive in just over two weeks from now. My problem is there is so much fish but I don't have the time to go out in work hours and the evening bite has been non existent. That hopefully will change with the new run although it's getting darker in the evenings. Still on brighter note, I get to moon the last few cruise ships sailing under the Lions Gate bridge.

In the mail today I received a calendar and a request for a donation from PETA. The Calendar is animal pictures.

I have no idea why they might target me - at least in the UK similar appeals from Oxfam, Greenpeace etc were likely liked to Amnesty membership - although it could just be a random thing.

Anyway I thought I might write back and thank them for the calendar but note the recipes were missing.

A steal of a deal at 1.09. It's around 1.42/liter around me currently for regular, 1.65 or so for premium.

86.9 at Regina Cabs, according to Gasbuddy the top price in town is 109.9.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Looks to be between 1.34 and 1.41 in Vancouver using gas buddy depending on what part of the city your in, on my side which is lower income it's 1.34 at Husky on the west side which is higher income, the stations appear to be mostly around 1.41 for regular.

I use Chevron as the scooter manual says to use 91 or 94 ethanol free gasoline, and chevron I know has 94 ethanol free where other brands seem to have ethanol in all of their gas and don't go above 91.

But even at 1.60 liter, only cost me 7.86 to fill up, loving this 7-9/week gas fill up....

One thing I notice in Vancouver is, on my way to work at 4am gas is on average 1-3 cents cheaper vs my commute home at 3pm.

And a station called Super Saver Gas tends to be the same price as the name brand station across the street, so no Super Savings...

Frost advisory for the Algonquin area tonight. August 31st. That's crazy!

https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=son (or for those on Facebook)

Don't think paddling in the lake and sitting enjoying the sunsets on warm summer evenings will be on my list of activities for Tobermory next week.

Damn. 1st holiday in more than 10 years too

:(

Tolls on the Port Mann and Golden Ears bridges end Friday | Globalnews.ca

I don't think this will be a long term thing, I see some sort of road pricing in the future where drivers pay per km, which I am okay with provided it's province wide.

Apparently there was frost on the car. I was asleep in bed so can't verify.

I was late going out as I had to go to the hospital in Brampton. If going to work I might have frost. Previously it's been difficult to be seen at that hospital, people had to be checked in, the receptionist didn't know their languages nor even which language was being spoken, it took all day to register one patient and an angry mob of waiting patients would mutter Babelicly in the background.

Now it's a miracle of technology. Swipe healthcard, confirm, or edit, details using a menu of umpteen languages and press yes, oui, da, oi, whatever buttons, to a series of questions in letters or script or whatever format the language requires, presented on a big screen. Very clever.
