Interesting.
Anyhow the issue is my US bank account, they won't let me access it until I receive a 4 digit code via text, but they can't send a text to a Canadian number only a US number, so seems I may never have access to the online banking again..ha ha Or at least as of now they don't have a solution to this, wish they would just send it by email or stop randomly asking for verification codes.

I'm currently wearing a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours. It's set to go every half an hour and hourly through the night, which I took to be somewhere around midnight. It's been going 10 past and 20 to and I've just realised that 10.40 came and went and it didn't go. So bed time officially starts at 10.10. :) |

Now, my mind...that's another matter....
Earlier this week my new Medicare card arrived, the old one still with a month left and my sticker on it for the regular tests. I did a blood test yesterday since I was at the hospital to get the BP monitor and got them to do a new sticker for the new card. This evening we all went out to East Side Mario's (not my choice but the others like it)...my treat. Before we left I cut up the old Medicare card and sorted my wallet out. When the bill came, guess which card I had with me rather than the bank card I should have had. :o:o |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
It was Souvette's birthday a couple of days ago. She's up at the other place for a few days. I couldn't go this time because of work.
My son and I conspired to get her a present. A car. He sourced it and checked it out. I merely paid for it. She has since used it. I asked her what it was like. The word 'holy was about the only one that would get through the forum filters. I won't say what the car is but there is a huge clue in my wife's nickname. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
My desk chair at the computer broke while I was on it (its been falling apart and should have been chucked months ago.) and I have really hurt by elbow, not broken, but boy oh boy is it ever painful.

Trying to find a reasonably priced 3 bedroom cottage on the waterfront anywhere around Lake Huron (or even a small inland lake) is proving impossible. They are either not on the water (or have obscured views), fully booked or too damn expensive - or in the middle of nowhere surrounded by forest and where there be bears (my worst nightmare). Having a 'sisters' week - and my first holiday in more than 10 years - at a cottage this September is beginning to look doubtful. :(

Left it a bit late to book though didnt you?....just saying :o .. My sister has literally just decided to come over from the UK for a month in September (she booked her ticket at the end of last week), so as I don't have 2nd sight (well, not that I'm admitting to anyway), it was a little difficult to anticipate that I'd need a cottage in September, lol. Be that as it may, I still need to find one... so if anyone has a nice 3 bedroom cottage overlooking a lake, perhaps with a bit of beach, a kayak or similar provided and preferably with wifi - in a 'not too isolated and not completely surrounded by forests' area - then let me know! (Somehow I'm doubting it, lol) :) |

If, as I suspect, you bought your wife a Corvette as a present, well done mate! The best I've done, so far, is an MG Midget with some cosmetic issues.
It's a 1984 lidless, although most of the engine is much newer. The Boy (who knows about cars) found it (father of one of his best mates). He checked it out carefully. There are some minor interior issues, which I guess you'd expect from an old car, but the bodywork is immaculate and the mechanicals are, apparently, 'smashing'. First time I ever heard a franco use that word. My missus is well-amused. She's turning heads. People do not expect to see a 55-year old woman driving a beast like that. Bastard to park though, it seems. The nose is so long, the driver can't really tell where the car ends. |

iPhone users try this, it actually works
All you need to do is tell Siri the following: "I see a little silhouetto of a man,†Your iPhone will recite the lyrics to the classic Queen song back to you. |

Hope you can find something.
We were trying to do a couple day road trip in August, but holy man are hotels ever expensive these day's and they are not even that nice, basic ones like travelodge or best western wanting 150-200/night.

Fort Macleod seems interesting from what I see online. It's a bit further then we have time for though..

You can get a room in Fort Mcleod for half that, but I remember your list has theme parks way up, so the local stuff there may not cut the mustard. I look it up on trivago in case I don't want to drive all the way to BC or back in one go.

Owned by an expat Brit, its only failing was that he was a Liverpool fan and there was rather too much Anfield memorabilia in the place for my taste.... if I can find his details somewhere I'll let you know. Lake views, wonderful sunsets over the (then frozen - it was New Year) lake, steep steps down to a waterfront deck and beach access.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
They are filming a TV show in our parking garage today at home, some show called the arrangement.
This area gets a lot of films/tv shows. It's also a bit orange out today, smoke from the interior fires has blown over to the coast. And we have an alarm installer coming today, someone tried to break in one day last week when we were not home and Charlee was alone, so we decided to get an alarm installed, better then nothing, 2nd time someone has tried to pry open the window. |
