Tell me when you need help eating it. I'm always available for those kind of activities!

When your late 30's and no kids, it's really hard to make friends. Seems everyone in the age group either has kids, grand kids, and is too busy...

Even friends you have all have kids and too busy to hang out.

On the bright side you don't have to look at photos of the little brats and hear about the latest cute thing they did.

Hang out, yes. But most people will have childless friends over, in fact, it's a welcome break from kids all the time. The problem is you don't know if you're creating an imposition for the childless friends, so you tend not to invite. If you can put up with the rugrats, best thing is to call up the friends and say you want to visit, see how the kids are doing, etc, etc, I think most parents will have you over in a shot.

I also find that being 50 and having a 12 year old creates barriers. Many of my friends have grown up kids (I have a few of those too) so are no longer tied down and can do what they want when they want...
I don't think there's a perfect solution whichever way you look at it... just embrace differences and look for common ground :)

Admitted defeat today, had to put some heating on this afternoon:(

Less than two weeks ago we had a few days where I was still putting the AC on for a bit.

We've had a couple of days where I have closed the downstairs windows after getting up and it's warmed up with the sun.

Today, even though it's supposed to be a warmer day than yesterday, it hasn't warmed up. All morning I've been here in my shorts but a fleece over my t-shirt.

The temperature inside has been what I turn it down to overnight in winter. I just checked the thermometer and it's dropped a degree

I want some heating but having admitted defeat last year only on the 25th, how can I do it now on the 3rd?

I'm going to put my longs on.

This could be a game changer for mental illness treatment, making it easier on patients health and pocket book, and reduce massive waste of medications using the current trial and error system of finding a medication that works.

Help wanted: What the labour shortage means for Metro Vancouver - British Columbia - CBC News

Lots of jobs in Vancouver, problem is they likely don't pay enough to afford the place.

My company is experiencing the labor shortage, we are having trouble retaining people, we can attract applicants but they don't stay long typically.

Upside is we got a nice raise in an attempt to retain workers, my new wage is actually not bad.

A lot can change in 2 months.

Ironing sequence of a shirt:

Collar
Yoke
Arms
Cuffs
Back
Front left
Front right

This is exactly what I was shown when I was 18, and volunteering at a solvent abuse rehab centre. The guy who showed me was ex-forces, and they tend to be good at ironing. The glue had not damaged his ironing skills.

I iron the cuffs before the sleeves. Should I be worried that I'm doing it wrong?

No. Worrying about it would be going too far. Just start doing it properly. (Most people I know think ironing at all is going too far.)

I'd say sleeves last but otherwise that order.

Wow, an order for ironing?
Having said that, I always did it the same way.
Right side, back, left side, Shoulder area (never heard of a yoke) and sleeves. Then collar and cuffs.

I did mine straight out of the wash as I didn't have a dryer.

That's not how you do it. Put week's worth of work shirts into bag. Go to dry cleaners, give bag to dry cleaners, tell they you want them laundered and then decide if you want starch or no starch and then if you want them on hangers or boxed. Pay for shirts, pick them up after 5:30pm on way home from work.

ps, remember to take stays out of collar.

Buy a new shirt.
Throw it in the washing machine.
Then throw it in the dryer.
If it comes out creased, throw it in the charity box.

You've never struck me as a collar stays kind of man. Whatever next? Cuff links?

Who's idea is this ??!

I've certainly ironed my fair share of shirts, but never really had a set order!

How can you iron a shirt randomly?!

Just noticed that I said "arms" when I obviously meant sleeves... :)

I asked my mother in law and she says she does right front, then left front, then back.

"So you do one side, then pull it all the way over to the other <demonstrating> and then back the way you came to do the back?" Yes, she said.

So this is a bit similar to Back, Front left, Front right in that you have a part of the shirt over the ironing board twice but only iron that bit once.

Why not just start either front left or right, slide it over a bit for the back and then further to do the rest; all in one direction.

Next week, how to iron socks; right or left foot first.

I do that Bristol. Collar, left front, back , right front then sleeves... I think if I was right handed I'd do the right front first

Just go with the flow...mix it up. Sometimes start with sleeves, sometimes with collar, sometimes with front or back. As long as the whole shirt is done, no problem! I think this may already have been communicated to you be someone!

I suppose I learned in the reserves and probably had a little coaching from my mother, in more or less the original order, sometimes using the sprinkler head on a beer bottle of water to lightly dampen the cloth in lieu of steam. I also knew how to press the woolen battledress uniform using a damp tea-towel so the sharp creases in the trousers would hang straight with the aid of a ring of linked 9mm bullets in each cuff. Without doing the work it looked like a green bag.

Yoke, Collar, 1 side back, 1 side front, other side back other side front, sleeves.

A consequence of working at home a lot more these days is less need to wear shirts and do ironing. (I'm the only ironer in this house). Thats a good thing :-)
