Help wanted: What the labour shortage means for Metro Vancouver - British Columbia - CBC News

Lots of jobs in Vancouver, problem is they likely don't pay enough to afford the place.

My company is experiencing the labor shortage, we are having trouble retaining people, we can attract applicants but they don't stay long typically.

Upside is we got a nice raise in an attempt to retain workers, my new wage is actually not bad.

A lot can change in 2 months.

Based on a recent teenage instruction session/screaming argument...

Ironing sequence of a shirt:

Collar
Yoke
Arms
Cuffs
Back
Front left
Front right

This is exactly what I was shown when I was 18, and volunteering at a solvent abuse rehab centre. The guy who showed me was ex-forces, and they tend to be good at ironing. The glue had not damaged his ironing skills.

I iron the cuffs before the sleeves. Should I be worried that I'm doing it wrong?

No. Worrying about it would be going too far. Just start doing it properly. (Most people I know think ironing at all is going too far.)

I'd say sleeves last but otherwise that order.

Wow, an order for ironing?
Having said that, I always did it the same way.
Right side, back, left side, Shoulder area (never heard of a yoke) and sleeves. Then collar and cuffs.

I did mine straight out of the wash as I didn't have a dryer.

That's not how you do it. Put week's worth of work shirts into bag. Go to dry cleaners, give bag to dry cleaners, tell they you want them laundered and then decide if you want starch or no starch and then if you want them on hangers or boxed. Pay for shirts, pick them up after 5:30pm on way home from work.

ps, remember to take stays out of collar.

Buy a new shirt.
Throw it in the washing machine.
Then throw it in the dryer.
If it comes out creased, throw it in the charity box.
