I know in the US toilet paper in various colors was around from the middle 1950's until middle 1980's, seems one of the biggest reasons for the decline is change in bathroom design and decor, pastel and colorful bathrooms lost popularity into the 1980's. I wonder if Canada was like that as well. |

So.. a strong case could be made for abolishing toilet paper and other paper based hygiene products altogether and reverting to using other methods used successfully in the past. Other means are readily available for this specific task, eg a sponge, but how many green climate change warriors would themselves use one? It's not something I've heard suggested by anyone, am I the first? You see, this is a simple and easily accomplished act that nearly everyone could adopt and it would help save the planet. It would reduce CO2 emissions, save money, save trees and thereby generate O2 etc. etc. So how about it. Who's for joining me in the stick and sponge brigade? |

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Seemed to have been popular in the US between the 50's and 80's, and my guess most popular in the 60's into 70's based on photos of the ugly paint colors being used for walls.... I just don't get how bright orange or avocado green was ever considered nice for walls and appliances, along with the various other colors found back then, but then 50 years from who knows, people will likely look back and think why did they use white and off white and tan so much for interior walls.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I rarely order from Amazon US but I sent my parents some small gifts for Christmas, and I like the feature Amazon has in the US that gives a window of when the parcel is due to arrive vs the arrive by 9pm that we have in Canada, for example my dad's package is due to arrive today, and they give the time frame of 12:30pm to 3:30pm, I'll have to check in a few hours and see how accurate this feature is.
US gets all the neat features at these online companies. |

https://twitter.com/ioanmarcjones/st...724145664?s=20 Amusing video though, great entertainment. So its about time for fire alarm testing again it appears, odd since it hasn't been a year but whatever, last time they (company and strata) that too many people were not home to let the fire company access to the unit most people are working between 1pm and 5pm, so this time they are doing it from 4pm to 8pm, but have chosen December 24th, I wonder how many people wont be home for this inspection...lol |

I've just realised that I can only mount my bicycle from one side. It's one of these things you do intuitively without giving it a moment's thought, but when I tried to do it from the "wrong" side, I couldn't keep my balance properly.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Shipping costs in Canada are frustrating, need a smallish thing only $15 pay another $15 in shipping, oh well cheaper to order from the US, hard to support Canadian small-medium retailers with such high shipping costs.

Amazon Canada doesn't have it, but I do use Pt. Roberts a few times a year.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Amazon item shipped Saturday, was supposed to arrive today (this is with Prime which doesn't seem 2 day anymore in any way) now they say maybe next Monday to Fri but cannot confirm and suggested ordering it again....
I don't think it ever shipped and was a glitch, has happened before. I put in a cancellation request and normally once an item is shipped they wont let me cancel, but they cancelled it near instantly and now status says refund is being processed. |

I wanted a reflector vest for work and to keep in the van, and while at the liquidator store looking for windshield wipers I noticed a couple on the rack. This could possibly be the only MTA vest being worn in Regina right now! There were corrections made with marker noting the size the logos were supposed to be, but a little methyl hydrate and a rag took care of those. No way of knowing if it came via New York or straight from China.

The mom creates the issues, her now young adult children are likely to be deported to the US, but she gets to stay in Canada for the time being. Beyond being born in the US, the kids appear to have no ties, family in the US.

Perhaps the legal bods out there can offer some enlightenment:
1. Does he stand a good chance of getting his money back? 2. Could the wrong recipient face any legal issues if he continues to keep the cash? 3. Could the bank be liable for any costs for not cross checking account name against bank account number or will bank no-fault be hidden within small print? Not a small amount to be concerned about at his age. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-new...ioner-21043469 |

I'm no legal expert, but I read the article, and he got his money back with interest.
