Having a little trouble? Because I was on anti-inflammatory meds for arthritis for a long time and dexilant (one of those inhibitors) as the antidote for the reflux, when I stopped all that and quit the dexilant I had heartburn for a couple of weeks before becoming stabilised. Tums in the pocket.
Tums and rolaids don't do anything for it.

That's what my last surgery was; so along with the umbilical and ventral ones I've got mesh from top to bottom. Luckily acid reflux isn't a real problem, but I can get cramps across where they're sewn in that literally paralyse me without warning. If you've been on the stuff for awhile your Dr might want you to get blood-work and check your kidney function. Never hurts to ask.

In other news, ICBC sent a letter saying my license expires in April, but on the license it say's it expires in 2019, and it hasn't been 5 years since the last time it was renewed, so gotta call and ask about this.

A teaspoon or so of vinegar with water normally cures mine. Tastes awful, but it works! (You can substitute lemon juice as well, anything acidic).

Interesting idea, can you explain how it works please? My OH has terrible reflux and constantly.

Maybe it facilitates or prompts faster absorbtion of the stomach acid, the same way the antidote for accidentally drinking rubbing alcohol is to guzzle a half pint of Scotch.

That's the theory and I'm not sure if it works for everyone / every incidence of reflux/heartburn, but it has worked for me about 80% of the time. I usually take a large teaspoon (or 2) of vinegar and then drink a glass of cold water (or combine them), though I've also added a healthy amount of lemon juice to water and sipped on that. I also found having a glass of 'lemon' water to sip on during the evening helped to stop the reflux at night.
One word of warning, you will belch and fart a lot after!
This should not be tried if you have an ulcer, I understand.

The theory is that your stomach increases/produces the amount of acid because it's not acidic enough, causing heartburn - and taking antacids increases the problem. By introducing some kind of acidic, the stomach stops needing to produce more and thus 'calms down'.

This is quite funny for those of us who are living in the land where everything is 'awesome'.
