I think so and I don't think it creates a dilemma. If a place requires a jacket and tie or a mask or whatever, people can choose to wear the required attire or not go.

I got mine in the end from Staples - ordered on line for pick-up by stepdaughter working next door. Amazon was a con but refunded, Walmart 3rd party appears a con. Not wanting to have more than one order on the go, it took over two months. SD was provided for at work so little urgency for me.

All those kijiji ads mind...I don't know how happy I'd be having to call on them to see, buy etc, unless they were very local. As in on foot, in the neighbourhood. 6 passenger restriction on the buses so you may not get on, mask recommended etc

Wonder if she falls into any of the exempt categories?

Its only a matter of time before there is an ADA lawsuit, its big industry in the US for lawyers, the ADA overall is a good thing, but the government made it too easy to sue companies and its become little industry, there are some who basically in the business of finding ADA issues in businesses and then suing.

The following individuals are exempt from wearing a face covering:

• Persons age two years or under. These very young children must not wear a face covering because of the risk of suffocation.

• Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a face covering could obstruct breathing or who are unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without assistance.

• Persons who are hearing impaired, or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.

• Persons for whom wearing a face covering would create a risk to the person related to their work, as determined by local, state, or federal regulators or workplace safety guidelines.

• Persons who are obtaining a service involving the nose or face for which temporary removal of the face covering is necessary to perform the service.

• Persons who are seated at a restaurant or other establishment that offers food or beverage service, while they are eating or drinking, provided that they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet away from persons who are not members of the same household or residence.

• Persons who are engaged in outdoor work or recreation such as swimming, walking, hiking, bicycling, or running, when alone or with household members, and when they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others.

• Persons who are incarcerated. Prisons and jails, as part of their mitigation plans, will have specific guidance on the wearing of face coverings or masks for both inmates and staff

If more Americans wore masks the pandemic would slow, experts say

A cultural shift among Americans to adopt mass mask wearing would be one of the simplest and most effective ways to curb further devastation from the coronavirus pandemic, according to public health experts.New Covid-19 infections are surging across much of the US, with 2.6 million people now confirmed to have had the virus.

The true figure of infection is probably much higher, at around 20 million, with Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), warning on Monday that “we have way too much virus across the country for that right now” and that it was “wishful thinking” to expect the pandemic to peter out over the summer.

I masked up for taxi and inside the big pharmacy/grocery store today.

Around 20 other customers and only two others were masked. Distancing was well observed though.

I was a bit surprised more weren't masked considering only about two weeks ago it was announced mandatory for public places inside. They did actually backtrack about the mandatory aspect a day later but it seemed to me that had less publicity so I thought fewer may not know.

It's likely coming so why not get used to it - and get a supply - so you're ready?

TLDR: Buy a decent mask, not some crappy loose fitting bandanna.

The use of face masks in public settings has been widely recommended by public health officials during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The masks help mitigate the risk of cross-infection via respiratory droplets; however, there are no specific guidelines on mask materials and designs that are most effective in minimizing droplet dispersal. While there have been prior studies on the performance of medical-grade masks, there are insufficient data on cloth-based coverings, which are being used by a vast majority of the general public.
We use qualitative visualizations of emulated coughs and sneezes to examine how material- and design-choices impact the extent to which droplet-laden respiratory jets are blocked.

Loosely folded face masks and bandana-style coverings provide minimal stopping-capability for the smallest aerosolized respiratory droplets. Well-fitted homemade masks with multiple layers of quilting fabric, and off-the-shelf cone style masks, proved to be the most effective in reducing droplet dispersal. These masks were able to curtail the speed and range of the respiratory jets significantly, albeit with some leakage through the mask material and from small gaps along the edges.

Importantly, uncovered emulated coughs were able to travel notably farther than the currently recommended 6-ft distancing guideline. We outline the procedure for setting up simple visualization experiments using easily available materials, which may help healthcare professionals, medical researchers, and manufacturers in assessing the effectiveness of face masks and other personal protective equipment qualitatively.

So all these thin cloth style masks companies and makers have made that are thin fabric without layers don't seem particularly useful?

Haven't seen any cone style masks in store, but cheap blue thin surgical masks are dime a dozen at Canadian Tire, but at average cost per mask $1, seems the cost would add up pretty quickly, and not sure if reusing that type of mask is suitable.

The Canadian Tire disposable masks are too small for my face, as are all the cloth ones I bough, but the custom made one my wife's friend made fits, but relatively thin fabric and not layered, was done in a rush due to the thought at the time I was flying in a few days.

Maybe I'll just put a water bottle over my head.

Went to Wal Mart 2 times today and Super Store once today.

I decided to do a survey of people while there.

WM- 56 people counted of which 11 had masks.
WM- 62 people counted of which 18 had masks.
Super- 37 people counted of which 5 had masks.

No employees encountered had masks on on.

But look how far they had to go, I assume they went from China/Asia somewhere to Atlantic Canada via least expensive option so may have sat on a ship, the lack of flights are seeing more of the lower postage/lower priority mail being sent by sea, limited cargo capacity and such still.

10 weeks may not actually be all that bad...

I've had stuff from China far quicker. The really irritating part is all that "there's been a delay, normally it's x days but allow a week on top of that" when it's already been 2x plus 10 days. And that's not including the email addresses that allow replies but your acknowledgment says you'll get a response within 2 days only for that response to then say the email account is not monitored.

I'd given up. Better late than never I suppose. I wonder if they refunded too  I'll check later.

Let her in, strap her down, and do some good aggressive thorough root planing. Because of chance of transmission by the spray from the untrasonic de-scaler, only hand tools are allowed. The customer is always right.
Don't piss someone off who may be working in your mouth with real sharp steel stuff.

Re: Masks

The dentist I went to recently since they reopened, no waiting inside the office, you call 10 minutes before your appointment and they screen you (just ask if you have a cough, fever, or sore throat or tested positive in the last 30 days) and then give you a time to come to the door, once at the door, they buzz you in, tell you which chair to go to, and you sit, then the dental workers came in, mask and face shields.

They are not requiring patients to wear a mask since the patient is only in the office for their actual appointment and work, and can't wear a mask and get dental work done....lol

Oh I dunno. Just poke a couple of sharp tools through the mask and prod about. I'm sure the dentist could do it from memory with the odd howl to guide him.

Is it safe?

They cause enough discomfort when they can see what they are poking and prodding.

I wouldn't want to be a ENT doctor right now either, dentist and ENT both seem kind of on the higher risk side with COVID.

Has this one be posted yet? If anything these anti-mask oddities are making for good entertainment on the internet.

Another calmer anti-mask person enters as well, but at least she helps clean the mess up while agreeing with the loud one, and throw in a remark about natives being biggest alcoholics when she asked the store employees about alcohol, and the store employee explains the store in on an Indian land and the tribe doesn't permit alcohol sales on their land.

I almost think society as we know it has reached its breaking/end point, and not just because of the virus, but it seems to be the push over the cliff so to speak.

It certainly seems like that when we read about some of the things people are doing. Probably worth remembering though that most of us are the same people we've always been, although watching/reading the news some days we could be forgiven for thinking that the entire world's lost the plot.

With good reason. Without getting political, a lot of that is coming from the top. "If they can't behave themselves why should I" sort of thing.

I sort of agree with that, but individuals can't be absolved from responsibility for their own behaviour either.
