In stores I'm seeing more and more people wearing them all the time. Those without look out of place now. I imagine in the lumberyard they're still rare though.

To be fair it probably looks a bit like an "end of the world" movie all these glum faced mask wearers on every street corner. It is certainly becoming more of a thing but its also a reminder of what a sad world we are living in right now. People afraid to get near anyone, no hugging, kissing, people giving you death stares if you aren't wearing one. Kids being brought up in a "sanitize everything" world where the mere thought of touching something and not sanitizing afterwards is enough to keep them at home let alone socializing with friends and getting on with necessary school work, now they have to follow a bunch of rules and wear masks and god forbid if they walk the wrong way or forget to wash before changing classrooms.
Fashion accessories can be fun and sometimes of course quite expensive but some will wear them, some wont but i don't think we can compare them to mandatory masks. I am having real issues hearing what people are saying now in stores, especially if they area also behind a plexi screen

Apparently fashion house Burberry have produced one. £90 each.

Real Canadian Super Store is going to require masks, guess all those 2 weeks ago online saying they would go to Super Store over Wal-Mart because Wal-Mart was going to require masks are gonna have to find another store now.

Requirement starts August 29, obviously in places where masks are legally mandated nothing will change since in those places masks are already required.

Global News.

I had an exam at the eye clinic today - part of diabetes care as opposed to regular eye test.
No notices or instructions about it being mandatory for masks but absolutely everyone going there wore one. All but one other patient were into their senior years.

All the staff were masked up. The doctor wasn't, but he put one on for the close-up part.

The above group in Vancouver is apparently asking their group members to protest masks on transit today.

I agree with everything you say, it will be a rough couple of years for sure but on a scale of 1-10 for inconvenience, wearing a mask is like a 3 for me.

Hopefully in 2022 we can look back at this 'blip' in our lives and remember the funny bits, like people stockpiling bog roll in March 2020

They are the type of idiots that endanger the rest of the people - and there are other protests in place.. including Hamilton, Toronto, Barry, Winnepeg, ------- I hope the organisers get their knuckles rapped!

I agree. It is going to be a very rough couple of years and everyone will need to learn to adapt to overcome & stop whining on.
It's a 1 or 2 for me. No bother at all really & just get on with it. I've been through far far worse in my life & this small thing is ,quite honestly, for the best.

It's not really an issue putting one on to pop in the store or get a haircut, it's the slippery slope of masks everywhere at all times. You might say that's unlikely but take a look at where we are now. Initially it was no masks, then it was adults because kids don't spread it, then its kids do spread it so schools should all mandate them. Then Spain and parts or France mandate them in outdoor places too, even Bannf has a mandate for them on the main street. Spain have now introduced smoking ban outdoors unless 2 meters away (actually that is probably a good thing) Then the French government decide that you cannot board a plane with any old mask because not all masks are equal so now you have to wear an "approved" one like N95 or surgical. It's just so alien to wear one in multiple places and you only have to turn on the TV and watch any film, soap opera, documentary or medical program to see that, apart from medical professionals carrying out a surgical procedure or the manicure and pedicure places absolutely nobody ever wore a mask. It was never common place in hospitals unless it was flu season and the staff member hadn't had the jab. I feel sorry for the medical profession because now not only do they have to wear one at work all day they have to wear it after work too. Heading into winter in Canada and TV already pretty naff you have to wonder what if any new programs will be produced over the next few months to keep us entertained. I sure don't want to watch endless programs with people in masks.

Trust me, you'll get over it, if your local area's daily case count suddenly starts ramping up from outbreaks of "unknown-source" infections, even after a long run of comparative success in terms of containment.

Greetings from Melbourne, where that happened.

SD works in a retail store and the AC is controlled off-site - meaning it's generally warm and stuffy in the summer. I can imagine that would be extremely uncomfortable wearing a mask and she has actually become unwell a couple of times.

I fiddled a bit when I put mine on yesterday, giving the metal bit an extra squeeze and that helped reduce the steaming up, as does tilting your head back a bit. This is the worst thing for me - so it's really nothing at all - but I'm only needing to wear one for up to an hour every couple of weeks, if that. And part of that time I don't need to see through my specs anyway. I can recognise plenty of my surroundings in a taxi for example; I'm not getting lost

I don't mind wearing masks for the most part, but I do start to get really uncomfortable around the 30 minute mark, so I try to limit my shopping to 30 minutes or less. It wouldn't be as bad if the insides of stores wasn't so hot and stuffy, as Bristol say's most stores the air con is controlled by corporate and they are not concerned with employee or customer comfort, so the stores tend to be hot and stuffy.

My issue is my face is all red around where the mask covers, I am not sure if I am allergic to something the mask is made of, or if all the sweat build up is bothering my skin, my skin is iffy on a good day. But other then looking bad, the redness isn't bothering me.
