Because its breaking up the country!! Im not bitter about it, I just find the whole prospect very sad. And as the OP says...I don't think many of the Scots are too keen either...just he extremists.

I've never eaten a deep fried mars bar ,never seen one in Scotland ,in fact I dont like mars bars just make me feel sick!

Lol,yep tried one of those.It was in the early 70s,I went to the local chippie and the owner who was Italian said to me ,do you want to try a pizza.Never heard of a pizza ,didnt have money to eat in resturants and there were no Pizza Huts etc.,the guy put it in the deep fat fryer ,couldnt believe it lol,he scooped it out and folded it in half and wrapped it up the chips.It was just soaked thru with oil and it was lard they used in those days.Never again!

One of the sad points on this thread and subject, quite a few Scots actually do believe
that the English dislike them,and even take some of the light hearted banter exchange as serious criticism.:p

I think the reason the SNP voted with the tories was it was comeback time for Labour screwing Scotland at the Devo vote.However there were alot of backbench defections from Labour that didnt help their case and there was a general election after the no confidence vote which the SNP was reduced to 2 seats.
Hindsight is wonderful. It's always very easy to second guess after the fact.
