They were obviously not defensive enough especially the goalie. ;)

Given some of the press reports in the Canadian media after last night win over the Germans, there must be tremendous line ups at emergency departments across the country.

I can't believe the numbers that are jumping on and off then back on the band wagon.:confused::D

I can only assume if Canada does not win tonight they'll all be jumping off again.:sneaky:

And you claim Canadians have no sense of humour.

Nah, i'm just bored at work today. Looking for ways to entertain myself while being paid.

Most of my verbiage is shite and very much tongue in cheek, sarcastic, not funny, and most of all should generally be ignored.

Well I certainly hope you're not taking me seriously. :p

Ok, so many of those brits were dual Canadian citizens or residents at some point, but still, they beat Canada to gold!

Could the same thing be tried again these days? Is there a grandmother rule like the Irish (English rejects) football team used under Jack Charlton?

When did the GB ice hockey Team last qualify for the winter olympics?

Not at all Steve, and ditto from my side.

In fact, this has kept me busy all afternoon. Just hope my boss doesn't find out

in case it had escaped your attention, most of the populated world is better endowed with fields than with ice rinks.

Actually, I'd be pretty happy if Canada lost to Russia today - not because I wish the NHL second-string all-star team ill, but because it might shut the TV commentary people up about hockey and help Canada to appreciate some of the other phenomenal athletic achievements of these games.

Sure, the hockey women will probably win gold, but that's such a no-contest it quickly becomes boring. There are some potentially good battles elsewhere - in the cross-country 4x10km relay (the team pursuit team finished a creditable fourth); in both men's and women's curling; in women's figure skating; in the four-man and two-woman bob; the list goes on.

The Olympics is not all about hockey. Even the US TV networks are relegating hockey matches to the cable sports channels in favour of figure skating (NBC didn't carry the Canada-US game live on its main network, for example); the rest of the world really doesn't care.

While you're quite right about the US networks downplaying the iced hockey, they are equally unbearable in their (predictable and universal) focus on their homers. What's worse, the OH has commandeered the clicker, so I'm forced to read my books with bleedin' figure skating musak blaring away.

I'll be glad when this is over.
