Diesel 99.9 p - incredibly low for UK - last five years it's generally been 1.20-1.40.

No transit tax here, but lots of profiteering.
At the main stations today 1.05/liter down from 1.12/liter last week.
At the 1 independent station on native land 1.04/liter.
We have no competitive pricing here, every station minus the native one which is not worth driving to from town to save 30 cents on a tank, match one another.
We have:
1 Shell station
1 Chevron
2 Husky
3 Petro Canada

Looking at the prices in Ottawa and upstate northern New York (the land that time forgot about) it is cheaper in Ottawa ($0.76/litre) versus the US equivalent (about $0.85/litre) taking into account the exchange rate and the fact that they use a US gallon and not an imperial gallon.
