I wonder how many votes the PPC is going to get? First paper to land in my mailbox was from the Greens.

Re: Election 2021
We still have not received any post-election call literature, nor any robo calls or knocks on the door.
All we have is that pamphlet the Liberal guy sent about 4 weeks prior to the announcement.

Re: Election 2021
I suppose being a relatively snap election with limited notice maybe there just isn't enough time for every person to get a visit or mailing?
The only parties that seem to make an effort in this riding is the one who will win CPC and the one who wont win PPC but the others are quiet for the most part it seems, but I suppose when your just a token Liberal, Green or NDP with no chance at wining no need to really try.

Some good news for the beleaguered PM: Xi Jinping supports Justin.

This makes sense. Trudeau’s government in its extreme incompetence, naivety or stupidity (depending on how kind you want to be) tried to buy and manufacture Chinese vaccines. That was the key reason for the delayed vaccination roll-out in Canada. Members of Trudeau’s government abstained when the parliament voted on Uighur genocide. And Trudeau’s lack of response to China taking Canadian hostages is quite remarkable.

It's long been obvious China government and the Liberal Party are in bed with one another, what better country to try and get influence over than one sitting right next to the US who isn't exactly friends with China.
China did seem to manage to potentially get 2 spies into the only level 4 infectious disease lab Canada has, maybe there is an off chance they were not spies, but certainly looks that way.
May also explain why they have not been charged, this national security expert makes a good point, charges lead to trial leads to having to disclose evidence which may not be things the government or its allies want the public to know.
"This would also explain why you haven't charged them, because once you charge them, then eventually you have to put people on trial. And when you put people on trial, then you have to disclose the evidence that you have. So the government might quite intentionally be trying to keep this sort of relatively below the radar as much as it can," he said.
Money laundering too, feds need RICO style laws which even the BC Government has pushed for, otherwise the money laundering will never stop or be reduced because the current laws are useless because they only get the worker bees.
Canada I feel will be in a not good position in the coming years, incomes are too low and even previously affordable city's are no longer affordable which means people are spending more on housing, especially renters have less for their basic needs, and struggle to even find housing because for more and more income groups there simply isn't anything affordable left for them to rent or buy.
Tearing down affordable rentals to build expensive condos is also making things worse, the people who are displaced and get evicted from the affordable unit they are in, wont likely be able to afford to buy a rent in the replacement building and so all this building of condos isn't actually helping.
One of the biggest annoyances I have is people who complain about homeless population growing, well what do people expect, if there is no low income housing, people end up homeless its not rocket science, tis easy to say get a job, however a good chunk of the non-working homeless are not employable and mental illness is quite high in the homeless population, and well employers wont even hire people with more stable mental health problems let alone unstable mental health issues many homeless face, which brings to the point of the governments and societies failure to provide safe and secure mental health facilities rather than kick severely mentally ill to the streets.
I don't know if Harper was aware of the 1996 CRA report, but the liberal governments prior to Harper most certainly were but they buried the report, and if not for retired CRA whistler blower and a reporter we may never have been aware of said report because the government of the time buried it, and even when the reporter requested through FOI the government still tried to bury it and took 5 years for CRA to actually release it.
To think the Liberal government from 1996 to 2003 ish had the opportunity to prevent the situation we are in now, and chose to bury it instead.
Twenty per cent of Calgary renting households make $36,000 a year or less which means their maximum rent should not exceed $900/month but only 10% of Calgary rentals fall into the $900 or less and mostly 1 bedrooms so only suitable for singles or a couple, anyone married with a kid wont be able to live in a 1 bedroom, even CMHC rules say kids need their own bedroom, and most landlords wont rent a 1 bedroom if more than 2 people will live in it.
From 2011 to 2016 Canada lost Canada lost 322,000 affordable housing units, likely even worse now as more affordable buildings have been demolished for expensive condos.
Oh and good luck if you live in a region where Mainstreet Equities and Boardwalk have basically bought all the affordable older buildings, they paint, add some new flooring, call it fully renovated and jack the rent up, and both are very well known for their unfair renting practices such as refusing to rent to people on disability, they wont admit it, but there is very consistent experiences myself includes with these 2 companies refusing to rent to people with disability income, which is illegal but near impossible to prove that was the reason.
The liberal housing strategy proposed wont help , its too weak and insufficient especially for renters and doesn't address root issues like the hundreds of thousands of units lost over the years and not replaced, I wont shed a tear if the real estate bubble pops, propping it up is doing more hard to society as a whole while only benefitting homeowners.

The problem with bubbles is that we don’t know for certain that it is one until after it pops. House price inflation may or may not be here to stay; its a desirable asset and people buy them when there is lots of “easy” money being printed. Knocking house prices down would be relatively easy: tax capital gains like CRA does to any other asset. No political party would dare to do that though; not if it has an ambition to have any MPs.

Re: Election 2021
I had an interesting /annoying call about 8:30 pm yesterday.
Sounded like a young woman, who very hesitantly mumbled some words. I understood "calling on ....", and that was it.
Then there was silence, and I finally said "And ....????"
To which she mumbled something about she wanted to know "if [you are] voting and if ..."
So she got my stock answer ...........
"I will vote, I always vote, but I never tell anyone how I am voting. Good night"
She was so incomprehensible!

Survey says voters feel Trudeau is most out of touch with everyday Canadians, followed by O'Toole, Singh & Yves-François Blanchet.
Trudeau was also singled out as the weakest party leader followed by you guessed it the same exact order as above.
Singh polled highest for likeability, too bad likeability alone wont win elections because otherwise he would be a shoe in to win.
Basically seems to be voters know they don't like Trudeau's character, but don't know about the other leaders character, but find Singh most likeable and energetic.

I am not sure why the Quebec party leader is included in national polls to be honest, its not a party of Canada but Quebec.

The US is Canada's #1 trading partner; China is our #2 trading partner. China is the USA's #1 trading partner, and Canada is their #2 trading partner. Those facts will not change no matter who gets elected. All the programs every party has on their platforms depend on sustainable debt, enabled through trade. No amount of rhetoric can change the facts.

Re: Election 2021
Canada is growing more and more dependent on China. China is a murderous regime using concentration camps to intern religious minorities and holding Canadians hostage. That’s not “rhetoric” but facts. Canada’s allies have blocked China’s involvement in 5G. Canada is an odd man out. Its a very odd behaviour. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/military...port-1.1387769
And this government’s strategy of relying on Chinese vaccines until China blocked the deal (dah!) has cost lives.
These are real policy issues which have very real impacts and Chinese communist party’s interference in our election isn’t appropriate.
