Amazon UK is no longer stocking and shipping all non-medical and non-essential supplies from its warehouses until April 5. Medical goods, baby products and groceries ( household cleaner, soaps) will now be prioritized amid the coronavirus pandemic. I wonder if this will occur in other parts of the world?

Looks like dentists are closing. Both dentists I have seen in the past sent emails out today that they are closing until further notice.

Dogs vet is also closing until further notice.

Ok, that's Ontario, right? No skin off my ass, but if sales volume is high enough that reducing hours increases shopper density it could be more dangerous than it is now. Cashiers do nothing but see people at close range one after another so they're obviously at risk, so maybe something like the silent patrolman shield in the police car, or the sneeze guard at the buffet would help. If a plexiglass barrier is effective it would be an easy universal retrofit. I think most people pay with plastic at the liquor store, limiting contact, but there would have to be a dedicated till for cash anyway, and money was already one of the dirtiest things around before all this started.

No social distancing at this Amazon warehouse in Vancouver area.

I wonder what the homeless population plan is? With their usual hangouts closing (fast food, libraries etc) they wont have anywhere to go during the day, and shelters seem like they will be prime location for this virus to spread, its a small miracle it hasn't already, but maybe it is and just not making the news, same with the SRO's large number of people all sharing bathrooms and kitchens and those places are not exactly kept clean.

Homeless person has no home to self isolate to either.

Farms in Canada rely heavily on foreign workers, and farmers are worried.

https://www.simcoereformer.ca/news/l...-at-midnight-2

Big jump in cases in BC since yesterday, 83 new cases and 1 new death a man in his 80's, total cases now 186 in BC, and the province has declared a public health emergency. Went from 103 cases Monday to 186 as of 3pm Tuesday.

Judging by what a relative has been told - the whole family are ill, fever, hacking coughs - despite recently getting back from Mexico, 'no need for you to be tested.. isolate yourselves for 14 days, if you get worse, then call back".... I suspect there are many more potentially positive. Because they aren't testing (shortage of swabs in Ontario too), they can say 'hand on heart' that there are not that many new cases......... I call BS...

I thought if you can cope with the symptoms and haven’t got health or age concerns...you just have to get on with it at home...like you would with the flu. Likewise if you have breathing problems...then it’s time to call the hospital. Goodness knows how long it will take to get to speak to someone or if they will say, ‘sorry we are full try somewhere else’. I presume the people waiting to get tested have either health/age concerns, or they are are looking after/working with someone who does.

Looks like the US and Canada are working together to come up with the best way to restrict travel across the border, according to CNN.

"The United States and Canada are preparing to issue a joint statement in the next 24-48 hours to suspend non-essential travel between the two countries, a Trump administration official tells CNN."

I'm a bit of a socialist. I've always been one.
I've often thought that one of the most equal places to be is on the road. It doesn't matter whether you drive a Rolls or a heap of a Reliant Robin, the bit of road you're on is yours and yours alone. That square foot of road under the driver's seat is independant of wealth.
But I've had a revelation. Today the aware socialist among us would advocate that it's the coronavirus that's the new lefty.
Now I know that there are those out there who'll argue that treatment for the virus is very likely far from equal but it's the virus that doesn't care, it takes bodies as they come. It's pure socialism.
I've a perverted view that it'll actually target the better off. Why? Because the poor have a lower life expectancy and as we're all coming to appreciate, it's the very old who have targets on their back.
Karl Marx was an imposter, the virus is the real thing.
