I can't speak for everyone but I think I can only die once.
I'm trying not to find out yet though.

Thailand did it right, those stats are absolutely amazing considering their population.

Indeed. It's a virus elimination strategy (zero tolerance) rather than a virus control strategy. Even China has frankly done a far better job of handling the virus than many Western countries. The issue seems to be that they treated it like a SARS virus (which they experience before) whereas Western countries assumed it was a flu-like virus. Also, Trump didn't help, he introduced so much doubt and disorder into the debate, that virus was able to establish itself strongly in the US and countries that take note of the US (Canada, UK). Australia has done fairly well too.

Transmission between individuals who are not taking adequate precautions or keeping social distance. Not rocket science.

CNN also use John Hopkins data, which is often different to the CDC data which is different to the Worldometer data...

UK data is within 28 days of positive test, ie up to 23:59 on D28, should you die 2 minutes later at 00:01 on D29, tough, and if your D28 falls on a weekend equally tough.

Which is why I am a tad cynical about the vaccination rate (but hope to be wrong).

It's shockingly bad performance (UK). We tend to regard the US as having a more chaotic and ineffective pandemic response, but the stats pain a very differnt picture. Amazingly, the UK media does not dwell on it.

Nothing amazing about it. Most of the UK media views any serious criticism of a Tory government as an act of Marxist insurrection.
