Yes. On the Quantum Physics or Heart Surgery forums.
I rarely have difficulty in understanding posts on this forum - no more so than when I talk to people face to face. If they cannot communicate as well as you can then why does that matter?

If you can't communicate in basic written form, then starting a new life in a country where they have difficulty understanding English that isn't of the Canadian dialect is going to be tough.

I finished my (university) education in 2000 - whilst I didn't take English past GCSE (1994), I would like to think I have a reasonable grasp on the language and find only very few words that I need the spell checker for. I wish the same could be said for many people allowed lose on t'internet....

But your complaint is not about dialectictic diference, it is about ignorance. Ignorance can be due to an inability - or simply that the person is not as skilled linguistically as the average person. That's just variety!

Don't the requirements for linguistics for admissibility to Canada (family category aside) require a reasonable level of English or French? It was my understanding that these tests are reasonably tough?

The problem with stating something categorically on t'internet is that some bugger will always look for a little tiny mistake so you can be tarred with the same brush!
Like Taffy said to Daffyd over a pint of Brains:
For 20 years I help old ladies across the street, and do they call me Taffy the helper of old ladies? No!
I shag one sheep, one mind! and it's Taffy the sheep shagger!
Not that everyone from Wales shags sheep of course!

This was the only image without a quote with profanity, but I'm sure most people will know what it is....
