Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
It's a personal responsibility thing isn't it? Take responsibility for your own actions/inactions/morbid obsesity or blame it all on someone/something else. So we're too busy to exercise or genetically fat and can't do anything about it. (The only genetic thing this family has a problem with is stupidity). Sadly, <he muses in the style of the Daily Mail>, we see more and more of this lack of responsibility for an individuals own actions these days.
I think they should get their GBP22k a year but be required to wear signs at all times in public stating 'too fat and stupid to work'. The Govt should encourage small children to throw fruit and vegetables at them. In these times of recession that kind of amusement has got to be worth 22k a year?;) |
Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
What I dont get is if they are genetically predisposed to being overweight why the hell they dont do something to counter that, rather than eating a diet of bacon butties.
Dont get me wrong, I could stand to lose a few (tens of) pounds, and I like a bacon butty...but everyday? no thanks. I suspect the abuse in the streets might no just be because they are a bit porky, Im a pretty tolerant person, but God knows I would give them a piece of my mind for this level of sponging! |

They should be supported financially and educationally until they are able to work, but their financial support should be linked to them loosing weight and gaining employment.
Personally I ignore anything printed in the Telegraph, except the QI pages on the website, and I wouldn't wipe my arse with the fascist supporting scaremongering tripe that is the Daily Mail |
Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
Blimey is all I can say! Now I'm no expert but I have been told that research into the 'fat gene' has so far concluded that it only contributes to 7 lbs of extra weight. If I ate pies everyday I'd put on 7lbs in a week!

Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
Actually, I'm not surprised. The UK or the US, entitlement seems to be the attitude of too many people.
In this case, I would strongly suggest that they be sent to a fat farm and made to stay there until they lost enough weight to be overweight and not obscenely obese.

Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
I was just in a meeting where half the attendees looked like that and I'm not even in Newfoundland or New Jersey. Of course these people can work, they can be investment bankers or lawyers or something else not requiring mobility.

Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
When I gave up smoking a few years back I did put on a 1lb or 50, so I feel I can speak up for "us fatties".
I am fat because I eat more than I should and drink more than I should and exersise less than I should. But I manage to work hard, and am fit enough to play 18 holes of golf (walking) without feeling like I climbed everest, so I don't quite get their argument that they are `` disabled`` and genetically inclined to be blobs. As the old saying goes, there were no fat people in the German concentration camps. |

Re: Anyone care to defend this lunacy?
I am not shocked, why should I be it seems to me the stupid lot who are paying these people have been paying the wrong kind of people for years and this is the result. that lot should should be put on a program to loose weight and get fit. even if its only for their own health and no stupid excuses. bacon my arse its not bacon they need its a boot up the backside long with the clowns who are paying these clowns
