If this excites you i think you are blessed with a quick shining insight into part of the reason for the vote going the way it went. And by the bye, it was clear, again, that our financial masters are nowhere near as clever as they think they are. The strengthening pound in the run up to the vote led many to think the matter pretty much settled. |

Re: "Brexit"
I'm just thinking about all the times I've read "valido per cittadini italiani o cittadini dell'UE..' on official documents and thinking <phew!>...but then that's not going to be the case anymore.

Re: "Brexit"
I don't know why Johnson and Farage think they've "got their country back", when it's all owned by the Chinese.
Maybe they'll run a campaign about that the next time they need to whip up a bit of support. |

Wasn't suggesting they were suffering. They would rub their hands at the titanic sinking, world war 3, armaggedon. If i was ever naive enough to forget this i was reminded of it on top of a lancashire hill at the time of the 2008 economic mess. The *** was lucky i didn't chuck him off! |

Re: "Brexit"
I quote the BBC article:
However, more of a worry to retirees will be whether their state pensions will be up-rated annually. At the moment UK citizens who live in the European Economic Area (and Switzerland) have their state pensions protected - they're pegged to wage or price inflation. Following the vote to leave, the UK government will have to decide whether this will continue or whether UK pensioners living in EU countries should be treated as they are if they retire to Canada, for example, where their pension is frozen. At the moment, part of the reason that UK pensioners in the rest of the EU see their pension go up every year is because the principle of the single market is applied. That means pensions and other social security payments rise wherever you live. Because this agreement is a mutual arrangement between the UK and the rest of the EU, it is now likely to form part of the renegotiation process. However, Tom Selby, senior analyst at AJ Bell, says: "While some believe the government will be able to negotiate protections for expat pensioners - it is worth noting the UK has not arranged a similar deal with a non-EU country since 1981." I fail to see what has to be negotiated. If people have paid NI contributions and accordingly receive a British pension, why can't they receive it, with cost-of-living increases, wherever they are? What has it got to do with the host country if it doesn't cost the host country's government anything? If there's something I don't understand, maybe someone can enlighten me... |

Absolutely not! Votes were cast and it is what it is-do we keep going on wasting thousands until the City gets the result it wants? Makes a mockery of all that's been.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215/ I sincerely hope I'm mistaken, I really do. You see, I had an interview lined up in Italy, the first I've had in a while, for mid July. But now that probably won't happen. As it is, my house sale is still to be finalised but even if I were to delay the interview, I feel ashamed to even visit Italy now, thanks to my fellow countrymen & women. I have family there I can stay with but I just feel so disheartened. I was going to have a short holiday there but this whole Brexit stupidity has put me off. And all because of newspaper propaganda, government austerity & bankers screwing everyone in the first place! I truly despair that my fellow Brits can't grasp that fact because they themselves have been screwed over time after time & now, understandably, they want payback! But they don't see or haven't realised until it was too late that its not immigrants stealing their jobs or benefits that's the problem, its bankers, newspaper moguls & career politicians that are to blame for their problems. Granted some are simply knuckle dragging Britain First supporters but most, I'd like to think, are simply pissed off, misinformed, hard workers or worse, under worked people just trying to survive. I truly despair for the future, for the generation below, who may never know the pleasure of owning a home or working overseas. And now we'll have Bozo the clown as PM for a while until Farage casts his black serpent in the sky, LOL! I know I'm speaking hyperbolically, but its to emphasise my point. So if a stupid petition, which I'll gladly sign, will stop this madness, then count me in. Otherwise it may be just a matter of history repeating and this time, we may lose so much more than we've ever lost before. Sorry about this. Rant over. |
Re: "Brexit"
Have a good weekend everybody. Relax, forget the knee jerk hysterical claptrap that is being bandied
about by all and sundry from both sides.Nothing is going to change much in the short term, and come Monday things will have calmed down a bit. |
