Vic will ask you to withdraw other SS apps if you apply for more than one (and it may hurt your app with all of them), not sure about the other states, but the idea is you commit to one state.

You can apply for 175 1st then change to 176 if you get SS, that's what I (and many others) have done.

OMG!!! Get VIC SS approval today by email! I'm a registered nurse, coming from Hong Kong, e-175 on 08-Apr-09. Here is my story,

1st Sep, e-apply VIC SS.
3rd Sep, required to withdraw WA SS and write the reasons for prefering to live in VIC & why committed to VIC
4th Sep, withdrew WA and provided its evidence
7th Sep, required to provide skill assessment and nurse practising cert in VIC(in fact, I have uploaded them during the appliaction on 1st), anyway, send file again.
9th Sep, get email for approval! Total 8 days to complete! Unbelievable!

Thx. Time for registration varies with different states, south aus is heard to be very fast, like several weeks while victoria takes several months. For my case, I use 2 months to register with NBV (Nurses Board of Victoria).

Do I need to register "Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council" before "Nurses Board of Victoria"

Sounds quite odd? Hopefully you will get another reply in a few days? I have heard of a couple of people having had things lost on the VIC database recently?

Not me (now > 10 weeks) but I have seen some others go through very quickly like for namwah1995.

ANMC is totally different nature to NBV. ANMC is only for skills assessment while NBV is only for registration.

Finally got all the requirements into for VIC SS assessment. Here's the reply I got back today. Looks like I am in the pipe and have a reference number. Now I just need to cross my fingers.

Thank you for the information you sent to the Victorian Government's Skilled and Business Migration Program. Your reference number is XXXXXXXXXX

The application will be processed and reviewed for State nomination. This process may take up to ten weeks and we will contact you to advise you of the outcome as soon as a decision has been made.

The Skilled and Business Migration Program has no legal authority to deal with migration requirements or points required for migration. Any questions regarding migration beyond Victorian Government sponsorship should be directed to the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Please see DIAC’s website www.immi.gov.au for more information.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information about the Victorian Government’s Skilled and Business Migration Program.

With State Sponsorship you can work anywhere in the state. With some states I think there's also a Regional State Sponsorship which is limited to rural areas, so make sure you go for the right one

thanks for the reply freebo! one more thing - Ideally, i want to be in sydney..but can't get NSW SS, bcs my ACS code 2231-79 (.net specialist) is not in their eligible list. So on second thoughts, i am thinking to apply for VIC. Now, once i apply for VIC, and say i get a +ve assessment from them..then is their any way i could hold up the 175 changing to 176? or is it a de-facto thing which i can't stop once applied and assessed +ve.

thanks in advance!

SS is like OFFER. You have to accept it..then only they will send form 1100 to DIAC. This is true for at least WA, QLD and VIC...rest I think ACT forces you to accept it...means they will not ask you..simply they will send this to DIAC and you would have left with no option.

Today my medical status has been changed to finalised. It has been in outstanding and received status since 14/04/2009. Does it mean my visa became closer??

I have already applied for 175, and now on Vic SS form, for the following ques, shall i say yes or No?

Q1.5 Have you lodged a visa application with the Department of Immigration And Citizenship (DIAC)? Only indicate yes if the visa application is relevant to the state nomination application
