Re: Student Visa - Medicals
Hi again to everyone, who can answer this question for me on the xray form160 Section A Q6, I will be going on a Student Visa, the question asks "How long do you intend to stay in australia - Permanently or do I tick Temporarily and put down how long for" reason I ask this question is because most people are hoping to get the pr and stay for ever
We put permanently, dunno if this was right or not, but our honest intention!!
Cheers

We ticked temporary and put 2 years although we are also hoping to get pr eventually.

The whole year work experience is to do with gaining extra points and also needed if you will be over 30 years after the course.
When choosing a course to do through any education provider, it has to be 2 years in order to qualify for proceeding visa's to gain PR and also the eventual qualification should be on the the MODL list.

We are starting to look into medicals and have got some prices, but what do we do, do we need forms etc or just turn up?
Thanks

You need to phone and make an appointment for the x-ray and medical. We had to go to seperate places, but they worked in the appointments so that we did them in the same afternoon. You need to fill in the forms as much as you can before you go and take passport photo's and passports with you. Our agent had attatched all the relevant forms for us its a 160 for the x-ray and a 26 for the doctor.
The medical is very basic, height, weight etc.

Re: Student Visa - Medicals
Hi guys,
We've got our meds and x-rays tomorrow, thankfully meds at our home which worked our alot cheaper, but would like to ask those of you which have already lodged your student visa a question about the documents which you need to attach or send.
Do all the birth certs/marriage etc need to be originals or certified copies and do you send all these documents including passports via the post to the london or pert office, I'm sure I've asked this before but cant remember, sorry.... If London, where do I find the address again..
Any advice on the documents to submit and where is appreciate. As we lodged via e-visa, do you send the passports to get them stamped..
Cheers, look forward to your advice as we want to send all the remaining forms by the end of the week...
Best wishes
Russ & Sarah

Re: Student Visa - Medicals
Hi all, just reading this thread as we are also going under the student visa option.
My wife's course starts beginning of Feb, so the earliest we can apply is early part of October. I understand you can apply online, and at that stage the meds & xray forms are produced, which we hope to then have the medicals a couple of days later and all documents I believe are posted to the London office, or ideally sent as attachments.
We managed to get a pretty good deal with the medical fees, as the doctor suggested he is prepared to conduct the medicals at our home to reduce the costs, so it's roughly now £410 for 2 adults and 2 children including xrays and postage.
Does anyone know the online checklist for student visa's, as I've been informed you will be advised the requirements after you have lodged your application online, is this correct..
Good luck to you all aswell, we are a brave bunch !!!!!!!!

Re: Student Visa - Medicals
Hi, we are in Hertfordshire and Dr Stanley who we are seeing tomorrow explained that by coming to the home it saves the cost of hiring a consultancy room at the private hospital, and we simply only go there for the adult x-rays... He sounds very nice, part retired now and called me today to run through the forms so that lots of the sections are already pre-completed to save time.
I'll let you know how it goes, but sounds great and straight forward and alot, alot cheaper than all others..
Cheers

Hi Caroline and Terry
We are also going to the Sunshine Coast my hubby is doing the brickie course which was supposed to be for Feb 08 but we had to delay until July 08. We have just came back from a holiday and me and the OH went to see the tutor etc in Nambour TAFE (couldnt have been any nicer) its very secluded up the mountain but very nice surrounding areas. Have you's been to Australia before?

Just reading your post and noticed that you have been to Nambour. You say it's secluded, how far away are the surrounding areas in miles? and are they secluded aswell or are they ok? Good for kids do you think?
In your reccommendation where are the nicest areas and which are the not so good ones?
I 'm glad you say that the course tutor in Nambour is nice, that's one step in the right direction. What was the college like, was it easy to register for a place, how many international students places are there?
Sorry for asking loads of questions, but you and a few others on here are seem to have all the answers. Thanks.

Hiya Mandy, just been reading your post, what do you mean proof of english ability - 5 years study. Is the secondary education or am i missing something? Please reply, cos if it aint secondary education then i aint got a clue. If it is secondary education you mean, how can you proove this? sorry for sounding like a thicko.
We just sent hubby's newest qualification certificate (SQA). He had some further education stuff on it, but am sure you'l be covered with secondary education.
Cheers
