Dear applicants,

It is intended that the new SOL would apply to all new GSM applications made from the date of implementation, except where transitional arrangements are likely to be provided for. Subject to the approval of the Governor-General in Council of amendments to the Migration Regulations 1994, it is intended that a new SOL would come into effect from 1 July 2010, along with the transitional provisions.

Subject to the approval of the Governor-General in Council of the proposed legislative amendments, it is intended that a number of transitional arrangements would be introduced to minimise the impact of this change on international students.

Further information is available on the DIAC's website at: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener.../whats-new.htm

Up to and including 30 June 2010, assessment outcome letters will be issued in ASCO codes only

From and including 1 July 2010, assessment outcome letters will be issued in ANZSCO codes only

Applicants who hold, or are about to hold, an assessment outcome letter with an ASCO code issued by the ACS prior to 1 July 2010, will be advised on the assessment outcome review process in due course.

For more details about our process, please visit http://www.acs.org.au/index.cfm?acti...killassessment <http://www.acs.org.au/skills>

Skills Assessment Support Officer

I have already posted the same 5 days back on this thread. This is a prepared response which ACS is sending to everyone in response to new SOL question emails.

Also this answer is so generic, it is not helpful to anyone.

When someone posts a similar generic response from another skills assessment organization which states that there will be a mapping table between ASCO and ANZSCO, you find it's useful and relaxing news.

When others post official replies from ACS, then it's speculation for you. Maybe you just want to comfort yourself in an opinion a review process won't be required for ACS when this is clearly the direction in which they seem to be going.

The reason VETASSESS and Engineers Australia can use a mapping table is that if you look at old SOL and new SOl, the designations of the engineering professions for example have remained more or less the same (civil engineer is still civil engineer on new sol, same for mechanical, electronic etc and many other occupations).

But we all know that things are more complex in I.T, and it has been widely discussed before in this tread. So, please don't put stupid comments in this tread when the discussion is taking a direction which is frightening you.

I got below reply from Vetassess:

"VETASSESS will not be issuing Skills Assessments in ANZSCO until the 1st of July, 2010. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) have advised that they will be publishing an ASCO-ANZSCO mapping table which will detail the conversion of occupations from ASCO to ANZSCO. Generally speaking, if an occupation has a direct match from ASCO to ANZSCO and VETASSESS are still the assessing authority for that occupation, applicants will not require a reassessment under the ANZSCO code"

Looks like a mapping between ASCO-ANZCO would be published soon

You are simply mistaken my friend. I got the same ACS reply 6 days back and there was not concrete information in it.

You, on the other hand, saying so confidently about the review thing like you have a job in some skill assessment authority. Nowbody knows whats going to be the final decision by DIAC and assessment authorities, and the past has shown very un-expected decisions by DIAC. I think you are so easily convinced by premature news. This was a reality check for you dude!

I am not saying anything stupid in this thread, infact, I am the one who started this thread and it has gathered a lot of engineers from IT and other fields to conclude the facts of new SOL. Get some attitude adjustment for yourself mr. newbie.

I also got the same reply from ACS and I'm also about to receive a skills assessment in ASCO code.

I'm not convinced by any premature news, the difference with you is that I'm prepared for the worst-case scenario and the official mail from ACS, even though generic, clearly suggests there will be some kind of review for people like us. I'm not just hoping like you, that DIAC and ACS will come up with a solution for us where we can use our existing letters in ASCO code for migration after 1st july. What if they don't? As you said yourself, they always come up with surprises.

I assure you I'd be as happy as you if things are made simpler for us, through a mapping table but I argumented why I think it is highly unlikely that things will be that simple. I sincerely hope that future announcements from ACS and DIAC will prove me wrong.

No point in continuing this unnecessary discussion with you now, let's wait for the official news.

Thumbs down Re: ASCO 2231-79

Thank you sufyan_victoria, oz_dreamz09, and foha2012 for the support.

My only intentions for this thread that I have started is to keep in touch with guys who are in confusion with new SOL, and to help others by finding facts and figures which may give us hope and positivity for our future goals to immigrate to australia for a better future.

I have been in this forum for more than a year now and I have observed many people spread false information which they have heard somewhere and they don't try to seek the solidity of that news and rather spread their fears in this forum. This creates un-necessary tension and stress for others. I saw the same thing from Rub29's posts, and I tried to stop him doing that so that it won't create unwanted stress for others. On the other hand, Rub29 took my words personally, and used harsh words which shows his caliber.

Finally, as Rub29 has a thinking that I don't want to be ready for worse outcomes, I have some news for you Rub29. I was the one who was left with 5 points because of MODL removal on 8th feb when I was just 20 minutes late from completing the online application and making the payment.

Afterwards, I tried for state sponsorship and failed in getting one from Victoria and it cost me 2 months. Still I didn't gave up and went for SA sponsorship, and got it on 6th of April. I started online VISA application once again when all the sudden Shafaqat309 called me very nexst day and told me that I have 3 hours left to submit the application as DIAC is closing VISA application with 6 hours prior notice.

I rushed for a survival but couldn't, again I was 15 minutes late on the very last page of payment where my credit card was giving an error.

Rub29, I am pretty sure that you must have realized that how I have faced worst cases and how much ready I am for any worse outcome in coming days.

I really hope that you also learn something from my long post and the experience that I have shared. There is nothing wrong in growing up!

No SA is not a very good choice for IT guys, but the cost of living makes it attractive as it is the most cost effective place to live. Salaries are almost 93% of Sydney and Melbourne in Adelaide, yet cost of living is less than half!

Opportunities for IT guys are less in Adelaide, but personally my vote is still for adelaide as it is one of the places where you make your personal property (estate) in a shorter amount of time.

Hi,

I didn't mean to be rude or anything to you, but you also said that I'm spreading false information here when I've just quoted an official reply from ACS (which clearly implies some of the things I said, even though it's a generic answer and you had already posted it before).

As I said, let's wait for the official announcements now and not continue in a discussion which is useless.
