Hey All,

I'm planning to get engaged on the 24th of Feb and making a move to OZ mid March. Do I need to notify DIAC that I'm engaged? You reckon it may lead to the cancellation of my Visa?

Cheers,
Yogi

I guess it won't make any diff till you get married but what about your OH? Do they have their own visa, are they Aussie, are you planning on them coming on your visa? there are a lot of things that will make a diff to DIAC then.I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to answer for any of these but one of the agents on here or your own, if you have one, would.

Hey Babs, my OH dont have her own visa. My initial plan was to get engaged in Feb, move my butt to OZ alone in mid march as I have a job lined up in April. Go back home in August to get married and go back to OZ alone (again) while she applies for the Spouse Visa. Hopefully we can spend Christmas 2008 together in OZ. I didn't even know until today that engagement is counted as changes of circumstances.

Btw does anybody know whether or not you can apply for a spouse Visa while on Tourist Visa?

Cheers,
Yogi

err, really not sure about this, sorry. I mean it all sounds ok to me but would DIAC maybe think you were trying to pull a fast one in getting your partner a quickie visa but then you're not trying to deceive them either.Other people apply for spouse visas with no probs.I really don't know I'm sorry but congratulations on your engagement anyway.
I would ring an agent for advice or start a new thread asking for an agents help to make sure you don't damage your present application.Good luck!

Yeah, I know Babs, I'm not trying to deceive DIAC. Well anyway, I'm not engaged yet until 24th of Feb, so I can still call off the engagement
