[QUOTE=mattieuk;9235209]Can't let this slip without correcting it (some people scour these forums and accept everything at literal face value). You can repeat once, and you can participate for a maximum of two years (as far as I know through my own application). Repeating it twice would give you 3 years, which is not possible under the IEC scheme.

Does he not mean that he is doing one year under the 'old' system, then applying for the 'new' system that will give him two more years, thus technically 3 years total?

Only reason I came to this conclusion is that I did the u35 visa a few years back, and that is now wiped, I can apply again and get 2 years, thus technically I will have got 3 years on what is essentially the same visa...or am I totally wrong here?!

cool, thats great if you can get the 3 years in total mate!

By the way, do you know on the IEC application form, if you have a common law partner, do you fill in their details even if they are not coming with you?

Or if they are filling it out themselves, their own application separate, do you fill out their details and which do you choose, yer or no, in the 'will come to canada with you' section?

Mine application has been in London for a week on Monday - hopefully only three more to go. I do keep forgetting about it, I guess that's a good thing.

It seems more and more people are getting accepted, it's exciting!

I was wondering about banks etc. The camp I'm working at are going to help set up a bank account and an social security number etc, so I'm less worries about that. Will it be possible for me to open a Canadian bank account and transfer my funds over from my Santander account? I'm worried I won't be able to, so I'll only be able to draw out from a cash point. This then worries me because Santander always block my account when I'm abroad, even when I tell them I'm going away.

They're a pretty rubbish bank anyway - they wouldn't do my wire transfer because it wasn't over £100 (inclusive of charges), so I'm worried they'll be rubbish when I'm abroad too. Lloyds seem pretty good so I could always just transfer my funds to that account.

Uuuurgh, I wish such things were a tad easier!

I know the feeling. I'm with RBS and they've been pretty F***ing useless the past few years. Still haven't got a canadian bank account yet. Been kindof lazy recently. Helping a girl move into her new apartment first thing on monday morning. Her suitcase is too heavy for her to lift lol.

Tonight, I'm going to the hard rock cafe. \m/

Haha. Nah, she's Algerian. She just got her PR card. Will keep my eyes open... FYI the bouncers here are Very thorough. Compared to britain at least. Last week, I swear a female bouncer punched me in the balls... Was a surprise. She undid my shoes too, so I was walking into the club with a limp and my shoes were untied.

I don't have any experience of bouncers in Canada, but I've heard this to be the case. That said, bouncers in all the places I've visited in the South of the UK are much more thorough than those I experienced up in Newcastle.

I didn't get asked for ID once there, whilst down south its a regular occurance
I did get Id'd. Didn't get id'd in glasgow much because I usually go to the same places every week. Was a bit of a surprise as I was waiting for the usual "frisking" and just got manhandled. Unexpected to say the least, then she pretty much punched me in the balls lol.

DingDandDoo- Do not send a 'Police cert of character' as people have been turned down for submitting one of these. ( as per Boards.ie thread at http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showt...ght=garda+cert ).

What you need to send is clearly labeled 'Police Certificate' and mentions that it's issued solely for the information of the Canadian consular authorities.
