Oh really? Well thats another good sign because as far as I'm aware it hasn't been advertised in the UK at all - even when your actively looking for a route into Canada it's not immediately obvious.

Well even though I doubt we will be getting a two year visa this year, for those of us applying for our 1st visa this time around, we may get lucky and they might extend it in 2014 and give us three years

Either way, we can all still have two years there as well - it will just require a bit more effort

The minister of immigration in Canada released a statement in October to say Ireland and UK visas would become a two year program said 2013. I'm not sure if the UK signed off on it, but that's what he said. My source being a news article found through google either way, I just can't wait for it to open!

Yeah I read that, not sure what happened there. Theres always a possibility it will still happen - but surely they would have said something by now?

Jeez my internet went on a go slow for a second when I refreshed the IEC page and it momentarily had a block of information missing for me, and after staring at it constantly for so long now I immediately noticed it and got really excited thinking it had updated.... then it loaded

Yeah, I've no clue what they're doing. I'm going to fly out anyway if they don't put it up soon tho I'd rather have my application at least in process.

Omg that happened to me too, I swear my heart was in my mouth! I'll prob pass out when it does change and miss out haha!

I've lived in Toronto twice (for 3months at a time) already and Toronto is known as the most americanised part of Canada. Toronto is like a smaller more spaced out slower version of NYC with way nicer people.
I've got friends who have been to Vancouver who have loved it and say its very beautiful, Vancouver is a more Canadian city if you're comparing it to the Tdot either way I'm sure you'll love either

Toronto is like a little New York. Although today it is more like a little North Pole.

Living expenses and housing are cheaper in Toronto. When we looked at housing in Vancouver I could afford a house share about 40mins from Downtown. In Toronto I've got a 700sqf Condo with a gym, pool, sauna, hot tub, roof deck, 50 seat cinema, bar, media lounge and 24hr concierge.

Depends what you're looking for I guess. Vancouver is prettier and has mountains around it. Toronto is concrete and glass.

Lol yeah it's making me a bit twitchy.

It would be good to have it processing before you go. I can't go until the end of May but have already booked a one way flight for the 27th... I didn't feel like there was enough stress in this process before so I decided to give myself a little more

Unless CBSA say otherwise. If a person has insufficient funds to look after themselves for a 6 month stay then they wont get the 6 months.
If a person has no idea of what they will be doing or no itinerary then they wont get 6 months like someone turning up and saying oh Im just gonna look around for 6 months.
The 6 months ISNT guaranteed but usually given when satisfying an officer of their intentions.

I've been for 3-4 month stints at a time as a visitor and they've never asked to see funds or anything were just adamant in making sure I understood that I couldn't work
