Re: International Experience Canada
Do you mean if you are currently on an ACE policy and leave then come back is it still valid?
Or do you mean, can you use ACE travel insurance to enter canada as an IEC participant?
In both cases, I am pretty sure the answer is yes.

Yes! Awesome news! Did you only get the CIC email after you chased them...? I don't want to bother them just yet.
Praying mine will follow in a few days.

Re: International Experience Canada
Hello everyone,
I've just booked my flights for 2nd July.
I have a few questions:
I want to enter as a tourist and then change my status when I am there. Therefore on 2nd July I want to enter as a tourist and then when I find a job, go to Niagara Falls or whatever and "flagpole" there. Is this how it is done?
I think that this would give me the maximum amount of time on my visa. I have booked a return for November as I have to come home for a week so I will still be originally included in the 6 month's stay clause.
Could somebody clarify how I would enter the USA would I need to apply through the VWP online or just pay at the gate?
So confused. I really need to start getting my life in order.
Any help would be appreciated

Also I booked and paid through air Transat and I can't seem to get onto their main tabs like "about us," etc. The website just keeps crashing and my e-mail receipt did not look very professional. I feel a bit strange about that!!!
This is the correct website isn't it? http://www.airtransat.co.uk/en/index.aspx

Air transat is legit, but I always book through ebookers, as their site constantly crashes, call them up and confirm over the phone.
To flag pole you basically exit canada, tell the lovely american with the gun you don't want to enter the states, and he will kindly escort you back to the border. Tell the canadian you are here to pick up your permit, and they will go and send you to an immigration desk. Very simple, being detained in the states takes longer than getting your papers in canada.

Being "detained" sounds awful that is what happened to me in Canada in 2007 and it was the worst time of my life lol, I got thrown back to the USA

Its pretty painless you dont need your american visa waver.
No one can come and go as they please into america lol.

Hey, quick question.
Can you apply for a second year Visa without having first activated your first one?
i.e. if i'm planning on going to Canada in say May next year (as my Visa for this year is valid for 12 months), can I apply for my 2nd year visa at the start of the year? Then activate it as soon as my first runs out?

From what I've read, there doesn't seem to be any rule against having two IECs.

You probably won't need a visa or anything to enter the USA (as you probably won't even officially enter it). Explain to the border officers that you just want to activate a visa, and they'll walk you round. This is at least what other people have said they experienced when flagpoling; I haven't done it myself, so I can't verify if this is really how it goes down.
