[QUOTE=noni;8525727]No! No! you have got it wrong, what i meant is I agreed with some of the things he said, although I would not vote for him, because they are thugs.
But you have got to agree any foreign person who gets into UK gets everything given to them, mostly without paying any contribution. We have paid for our place in India, had the property registered, your government has taken our tax for purchasing some 2 Laks - then has the audacity to say we cannot own it. If we squeak over here against any foreigner it IS racial, and they all play the racial card - what help do we get in India - sweet fanny all. J5, I and many of the other regular BE members are the least racial people you could come across.] Noni you said re the BNP: 'I agree with their policies' and 'no' you are quite wrong about 'any foreigner getting into the Uk 'gets everything' 'mostly without any contribution' . Did not your surgeon contribute? did the thousands of foreign doctors, dentists, nurses, scientists, Chefs, corner-shop keepers etc. etc. not contribute? I have already said that your visa and property outrage is justified. I have said elsewhere that Mr Kamat is only self-promoting he will not help. Searching the site I cannot find the means of cancelling my registration, perhaps you would explain how to do this. |

We have contributed approx £9,000 to Candolim economy this season not an amount for Goa to be turning their noses up at. |

This is probably, THE ONLY site where two sides of every coin can be expressed in as polite and non-insulting debate anywhere (considering the causes and effects), especially as it relates to Goa. If you stay, you will develop a much higher threshold before feeling put upon and greater appreciation for 'the other'.. as anyone who has anything to do with India should. |

I personally have only been talking about the scavengers and bloody scroungers, those that take and do not give anything back. I have great respect for every nationality My grandson had a rollerblade birthday party this week, there were naturally white friends, then his classes was made up of African, Chinese, Thai, Italian and as he put Raju is a lighter brown like our friends in Goa. All the parents intergraded and the kids had a wonderful time. That is what life should be about.:) |
Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
This loohole allowing Goans into Portugal and ultimately into the UK needs to be seriously looked into. All the financial trouble in Greece at the moment is only the start of things, Portugal is apparently in a sorry state of affairs also, they should not be allowing people in that they can ill afford to, which eventually will put the burden on the UK as they move on, it really is no skin off their nose.

I have some Goan friends Husband, wife, 2 children, they moved to the Uk about 6 years ago. They came back to Goa for a holiday a couple of years ago, i asked them how they enjoyed the UK, usual things, very cold etc.
I asked them if they found the UK expensive,, they said yes there rent alone was £850 per month, i asked them how they could afford this, They said GOVERMENT PAY!!!!!!. |

Went to Baga last night for dinner with 10 friends and it was humming - CSM road was really busy and all along Baga road the shops were open and doing business. Been to Why Not in Calangute this evening with friends as that is where they wanted to go before they back to UK and it was packed - Kareoke is not our scene but this was good - people who could sing and not screach. Calangute has not closed down - far from it. I have noticed some animosity on your part towards msJ5 by the responses you have made on several occasions. Do you have a particular reason for this? If not then is it really necessary to be so nasty to one individual? Everyone has the right to post on BE without having someone belittle them. Dread - be nice ! x |

There is NO 'loophole' as you put it. The people of Goa (genuine Goans....someone must define this at some point) have a genuine birth right to Portuguese citizenship. The management and credibility of that management is where the loophole is. On the other hand, there is the possibility that depriving legitimate claims to Portuguese citizenship will have the effect of forcing Goans to take responsibility for Goa instead of leaving it to scavengers and scoundrels.

Yes I see your point and agree with what you say, however how many of these genuine Goans would choose Portugal over the UK ? I have never met one yet whos dream in life was to move to Portugal but heard many that want to head to the UK and settle. In the sense that I meant loophole it was how they would use the Portuguese route as a stepping stone to the UK (being the ultimate dream).
According to the TV Portugal is more or less in the same situation as Greece. More people for us to bail out - and us without a bailer. |
Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
And of course they give up their Indian passport, why I don't understand, have friends from other countries with multiple passports. My point is this would have been for me anyway a massive decision, to give up my UK passport, knowing always that bit of security if things didn't go to plan in a foreign land:blink:
