Whilst sitting at a local bar the other week I enquired where a certain ex sarpanch was as I hadn't seen him for a while, the reply was he has now got himself and his family a Portuguese passport and gone to Portuga,l " not to stay there of course as its a poor country but to eventually get to the UK as its far richer !" :frown: :thumbdown: :eek:Seems a "tad" unfair that we want to put money in Goa and can't yet any bugger can come to the UK with sod all and get everything :thumbdown:

Is'nt that always the way, every one wants to come to England.

As my flight to Goa last Sunday was cancelled we decided to visit Scotland for a few days. We stayed in a hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond. The strange thing was that all the staff in the hotel were Scottish, in fact the whole time we were in Scotland we only encountered Scottish workers. Go to a hotel in London and it's hard to find any staff that are English.

Have now re booked our flight and arrive on Tuesday, apparently to sweltering humidity.

Thats right. 36 degrees and 70% humidity and at least 3 changes of clothing a day.Not much open around Calangute. Been down there today to see friends and a few shacks are hanging on in there with some russian customers. Word around here and in the papers said no more British charters are coming. Are you coming scheduled?

Can you tell us who the ex sarpanch is, and from what area? It wouldn't be Joseph Sequeira of Calangute would it?

We are flying with Kingfisher, they managed to re book our flights so we arrive on Tuesday and leave on 6th May.

Friends of ours were due home last Sunday, they were on a Monach flight. They had too move accomdation but eventually arrived home this morning 22 hours after leaving Goa so i'm not sure who they flew home with.

Some of the Kingfisher flights were showing as £2400.00 each for a return, so were were lucky to be able to transfer.

We are based in Candolim so i'm sure that it is going to be very quiet when we arrive, just hoping that Teama is still open on the beach road.

As a Eu. Union citizen he will have to have a job to come to the UK, and therefore he will pay taxes and N. Insurance. Also there will be some locals who call his family 'b*****s, so he will certainly pay.

And probably fined for p*****g and s******g in his back garden, and spitting in the street:thumbup:

Some political programme was just on the TV, and the guy being interviewed said that one illegal was been sent back every 6 minutes. I DON'T BELIEVE IT, DO YOU?:blink:

Is gregit a typical North Goan expat, with his bigoted attitude to the people he has come to live amongst??
We have not been north of Panjim for about 16 years, so all this is very new.

Always say how I find, your point, was this man not paying his taxes in Goa, was he not living with substandard services in Goa, was he not partly responsible for these services. But he thinks he is going to a better lifestyle, with less rubbish on the street, health standards higher even to basics, where restaraunt can be shut for the state of it's toilets. All Indians think it is easier in the UK, for all it's problems, it is, but we have to pay for those services, everyman and woman. Everystreet cleaner, road cleaner, dustbin man, not just put it in our pockets like Goan

I am not sure you know anymore than me, you not been north of panjim for sixteen years, how many crs. spent in Goa by brits and others, they have nothing to show for it, nothing for the benefit of Goan, piles of waste on the street, no services, you live south of Goa, what can you say for the North, ThE UK as you remember it, I believe u said forty years ago, u look on this site see how many have been called Bastards, I wont do your work for you, Goa is in a mess, you live in your quiet hamlet and watch Rome BURN

gregit I live equally in the UK ie a 'bipat' not an expat, and not in a 'hamlet' all my Indian inlaws and extended family are in India, scattered among the large cities, some of them have been heard to insult Goans!! but not in public. So perhaps my viewpoint is wider.
