Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
Some political programme was just on the TV, and the guy being interviewed said that one illegal was been sent back every 6 minutes. Greg, dont bother arguing with this Bipolar person, anyone who is prepared to state that As a Eu. Union citizen he will have to have a job to come to the UK, and therefore he will pay taxes and N. Insurance. |
Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
Why would a Karnatakan family talk good of Goan, when they just want everybody out of THEIR state:confused:
The one they keep sending back is probably the only name on the computer, probably called John Smith  |

[Greg, dont bother arguing with this Bipolar person, anyone who is prepared to state that is so ill informed..............these are the people who can enter UK with virtually no questions asked, which is why the Goan in question is coming via Portugal. He and his family can happily circumnavigate all the rules to keep their type out, give a load of bull-sh*t to one of the many supportive and affluent "Goan Associations" here, and off they go on their new life among the "hated ferangis and paklos", innit?] Greg there you go again all those from Karnataka think this! All, Indians do that, All All Goans etc. Doall the British take drugs, get drunk on Saturday, carry knives etc? Don't bother to reply we can never agree. |

Bipolar with a capital "b", a take on Bipat. Could just as easy be Bicycle/Binocular/Bison!
bipolar with a small "b", descriptive of someone with a depressive illness. Bi-focal, the ability to look at things in two different ways.........try it? |

Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
The taxi driver I use when in Goa has told me that he is applying for Portuguese passports for himself and his family so that they can all come to live in the UK. He was asking about work for himself however he is nearing retirement age in the UK. I tried to explain to him that he would probably find it very difficult to get work but he is doing it for his children as he thinks they will have a better life in the UK. I am not so sure about that, just like India you have to have a good income to live well but I suppose as EU citizens they will be able to claim social security which should at least keep them from starving. Once they have a Portuguese passport they loose any right to an Indian passport and become foreigners in India so can not just go back.

Re: More Goans heading for the UK !
Met and now friends with a Goan taxi driver here in the uk, he acknowledges he would have made a mistake but for having some family here, he's been here 6 years. I have met his wife and family, and is interesting talking how he feels he has benefited, some really simple things, but mostly childcare as his wife works as well, he doesn't consider going back to Goa, only to visit.

Always say how I find, your point, was this man not paying his taxes in Goa, was he not living with substandard services in Goa, was he not partly responsible for these services. But he thinks he is going to a better lifestyle, with less rubbish on the street, health standards higher even to basics, where restaraunt can be shut for the state of it's toilets. All Indians think it is easier in the UK, for all it's problems, it is, but we have to pay for those services, everyman and woman. Everystreet cleaner, road cleaner, dustbin man, not just put it in our pockets like Goan

My taxi driver has no relatives here so will be relying on his british friends to help them to settle here which may not be a good idea. I think he will quickly find out who his real friends are when he wants something from them.

One of the many annoyances globally is getting some kind of 'minimum' understanding of acceptable health, safety, courtesey and responsibility towards the benefit of the wider community. Gregit is legitimately concerned about these traits being non existent in Goa of today, which will then be carried by the modern Goan emigrant into the UK. This is a truth that cannot be denied. It may not have been so 20 years ago. The most alarming trait of course is the total lack of 'citizenship responsibility' in Goa when this single trait is all that is needed to take Goa rapidly into the best governed State in South Asia

, if Goans can ever take responsibility for their actions. Which is the precise point Gregit is making. Goans can no longer blame 'outsiders', 'brit-expats', 'non Goans', for what's happening to the decline in law and order, or the lack of proper planning, and the rapid destruction of the environment leading to disease and polluted water. These are simple basics in the framework of reponsible citizenry. Or are you saying, Bipat, that Goans DO NOT have a say in their state? |
