Thanks everyone for your good wishes, fell out of the pub after about five hours, younger son picked us up and drove us home and I have been sleeping it off for the last couple of hours so sobered up a bit. Would love to meet you all. Aiming for a not too peaceful retirement, got lots of travel planned including when we are in India this winter. thank goodness for spell check.

Not really to do with Goa but have you all checked your 20p coins? The undated ones are going for silly money on ebay and if you have one it could help significantly towards your next flight to Goa.
Its got to be undated on both sides (there are con artists selling dated on one side ones...which in effect is just a normal 20p coin)...many fools are paying in excess of £50 for these

I dropped my mate & his missus off at Manchester airport early this morning - they were off to Cyprus (Paphos) for a fortnight - it's been booked for a while, on Sunday I asked my mate if he was 'excited' yet & he said he wasn't bothered about going really! I ask you what is it with people: Cyprus is lovely especially that end of the island, 12 hours plus of sunshine each day etc etc
He then sends me a text message when he's settled in, saying he's sat looking at the Sea with a nice cold Carlsberg in PIZZA HUT!

I give in: Cyprus: olives, feta cheese salad, Kleftiko etc etc - PIZZA HUT my a**e!
Regards

Well, I'm back.
What's to report?
Jet Airways are cost cutting/becomng less efficient............
Take-off from Heathrow 30 mins late, food rubbish, plane crammed full. Last minute Indian passengers travelled on the wings.
Arrived in Bombay on time however, pig-flu queue moved very fast as did immigration. Jet now regularly doing the "Spicejet" thing of amalgamating the two afternoon flights. Yesterdays excuse was heavy rain in Goa (could that be due to the monsoon?), why cant these people just tell the truth for a change, is lying genetic? Lunch much better on domestic flight.
Almost non-stop rain since arrival with heavy winds too. Duck pen roof now isn't, but hey-ho they're ducks so are meant to be waterproof anyway?
If you believed in "conspiracy theories" you would think that the sudden response to last year's petition was deliberate to spoil the numbers on the current one?
No point in getting worked up about nasty letters in the Herald, we have stirred up a hornet's nest and the xenophobic, parochial Goons will have a hay-day now.
Em, watched a Kingfisher pilot (sic) throw an ATR at the runway at Diabolim yesterday..........change to Bombay? Wise choice!

Hey good you got back ok. Last year my flight to Mumbai was with Jet and sounds the same as yours .It was awful had no food as by time they got to us at back all they had was fish and i dont eat that. Didnt get a coffee till 9.30 am in the morning and when i asked for water to swallow a tablet they brought a tiny plastic cup. Coming back 5 months later it was completely different .Food was always coming and staff were really nice . Think i will try Kingfisher this year though .

Still working on Goa time are you? I do usually get to bed before 6.30am and I sometimes get up at 4am but only to travel long distances before the roads get busy. Coop has a good selection of beers in bottles 3 for £4. the hob goblin is pretty good.

There’s a way to get six bottles of Torres wine for £27 (which is 25% off) and get 900 bonus Tesco clubcard points on top of the usual points – these can then be traded in for £36 of Tesco Rewards (or £18 of further Tesco Wine) which means you’re £9 up
and there another one
MoneySaver m_will has found another points offer on Marques de Monistrol Vintage Cava Brut. Bottles are 10.99 each but you get 300 bonus points per bottle. And until Sunday buy 6+ bottles and get 25% off. So for a £49.50 spend, get £72 in vouchers. It's worth noting this Cava can be bought cheaper elsewhere though
