I gather thats a "dig" at me. I did mean they are stupid to believe the show that goes on at the beach with these children that they fall for.
You go and spend a week at that so called charity and see what goes on there .

Dear Hemingway - IMHO does not mean 'Old Tweekers' like you, but the newbies on the block, who do not see the real Goa. How they are manipulated, by the beggers on the beaches etc. I watch on the beach and see all their little games, sending children with a small bag of fruit. People feeling sorry for the children and given them 50 rups + each day for an orange, and the family have a stall in the market!!! Beggar families meeting up in the back streets of Calengute, sitting sharing out the 'money pot'. etc etc.

Thanks noni but i would have thought they would have know what i was saying .I have stayed in Goa for 6 x 6 months and got a one year visa and stayed for 8 months so you do see behind the scenes what is going on in Goa .Which most of the people on this web site must have seen as well.
People can make their own minds up on what is a charity in Goa and what is not.
The same as in the Uk most people know what charity pays the bosses huge pay and other charity's that are run on a shoe string cause most of the cash donation goes to the charity.
Robert from CWT emailed me back after i donated cash <you can do it through Paypal > I told him to have a look at this thread .

There are too many people pulling at tourists heart strings, just use your head, keep you hands in your pocket until you know the people involved.

I remember when i used to go for just 2 weeks then 4 weeks and i was one of those stupid 2 weekers and gave so much cash to the beggars or any one with a sob story i fall for it all. Longer you stay your eyes open wide up and see most of them have more cash and property than we ever will.

The Valued Opinion of a 'Gulfee', a man with a plan for the salvation of Goa. Oh yes, and he lives in Abu Dhabi

What planet is this man on???; '...Goa....a world-class state....'

Hope and opportunity

Arwin Mesquita, Abu Dhabi

MP Shantaram Naik deserves credit for introducing a private member’s bill to address land issues and migrant influx. However, I hope that this be pursued to its logical end, with the full support of Goans, both resident and non-resident. I request all Goan MLAs and MPs must rise above personal differences and agendas to do what is best for Goa and Goans.
This bill comes as a ray of hope, and also provides the opportunity to make Goa a world-class state by using the rich expertise of Goans, both in India and overseas.

This is just my opinion but go on Trip Advisor Goa Forum and put something detrimental about Goa and the 2 weekers will go into "pack" mode and tell you what an a*****le you are whether you are talking about the overcharging of taxi drivers, Newtons, Shacks or bars - they are supposedly "Goa Experts" and they do make me laugh

I believe Tripadvisor are owned by Thomson Holidays. You wouldn't expect much of a balanced view on such a site. I suspect many of the reviews are by employees (i.e. reps) and tied hotels/guest houses.

Was there not an expose of the unreliability of this site in last weeks UK newspapers and international news websites? In stockmarket terminoligy, it's called 'ramping'; the giving of spurious information so as to affect the credibiliity or non credibility of a particular asset.

Probably not the reps fault directly - just part of the unspoken part of the job contract, and the only way to earn commisison on top of unreasonably low wages - they used to advise - maybe still do -that it was unsafe to venture out of the resort, eat in shacks, or plan your own itinerary to get about Goa with your own hire and under your own steam.

Packaged package tourism. Dontcha just luvit? R.I.P. Goa.
