Now Foreigners blamed for Goas dogs problems

Foreigners causing dog menace on beaches: Goa House told
PTI | 02:07 PM,Jul 19,2012
Panaji, Jul 19 (PTI) A ruling legislator told the Goa Legislative Assembly today that foreigners visiting the state were partially responsible for the dog menace on its beaches. Michael Lobo, a legislator representing Calangute constituency, told the House that foreigners who adopt dogs during their stay in Goa abandon them on the beaches, when they head back to their native country. Lobo said that adoption of a pet dog is a 'fashion' among foreigners, who live here for 3-4 months on vacation. "They leave back the animals on beaches creating menace," he said. During the question hour, Lobo sought governmentÂ’s directives to foreigners through Directorate of Animal Husbandry not to abandon dogs. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was present in the House refused to respond to the point raised by Lobo. PTI RPS

No wonder Pariker didnt respond to him.Lobo is Spanish for dog....! Why don't they advertise in Thailand for tourists to visit Goa, then instead of just dumping the dogs out of the door when they leave to head back to Thailand, they could invite their Goan friends around and eat the buggers !

You are right some do adopt/feed then leave but the stray dog needs to be there to adopt in the first place. The dog catcher needs to get out, catch them and neuter them all if they do not put them down. There was four pups born to a stay dog near our apartment in January, one was adopted by a local but I do not know what happened to the rest, probably running free living off scraps.

Unfortunately there is some truth in this - it really hacks me off when I see people in shacks feeding them bits of their meal, stroking the bloody mangy things etc etc - I remember half a dozen or so people killing themselves laughing as a bloke was being chased round & round a sun bed by a dog (no polite way of saying this) wanting to shag his leg! Answers on a postcard as to who the potential victim of this wannabe amorous dog was. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

People can be so stupid regarding dogs, thinking the dog has some affection for them - no it hasn't, it's being cunning trying to be appealing so it gets some more food out of you - it will still run at you five minutes later, snarling & more than happy to bite you.

Precisely, not even a 'shake of a paw' as is traditional in any formal greeting/introduction - let alone a kiss: no peck on the cheek, no brief touch of the lips - with an opportunistic tongue!

Some dogs, no bloody manners!

LOBO is actually Portuguese for WOLF - what's the saying about "wolf in sheep's clothing"?

I think anyone with a modicum of sense must realise that there must have been stray dogs in Goa long before there were foreign tourists, and there will continue to be stray dogs until a stronger governmental policy of neutering exists.

Many long-term foreigners have their "adopted" dog or cat neutered at Animal Rescue in Assagao, which goes a little way to keeping the numbers of newborns down, but it is still not enough.

Time for the Goans themselves to accept some degree of responsibility and dig deep into their pockets, but then "wolves will fly".........sorry, "pigs...." - suffering from the effects of seeing some sunshine for a change here in Blighty:rofl::rofl::rofl:
