what a world eh? where has the Goan zest for life, song, poetry, friendship, love, romance, courage, gallantry gone? It cannot, must not, could not have been an engaging centuries old fable could it? Or is Goa collapsing in tandum with the the demise of the west and the rise of the east? Must it, could it, should it be saved? Are these questions too weighty for expats?

The Times of India to-day - Goa

I-T raids Goa Builders. Income tax officals on Thursday searced the premises of five prominent builders in the state - closely connected to a prominent politician.!!!!!

Also Page 7 an article by Andrew Pereira
"The Russian lesson: How it all went wrong for Goa"

How long have we been telling them this?

They haven`t quite called them `dregs ` yet but the words riff raff and low class are being banded about. Why on earth does the Goan tourist department still think that it can target middle and upper class tourists from the West ? deluded morons !! :frown: they got what they wished for and seem to be regretting shunning decent hard working Brits now that the Russian love affair is over.

My sympathies go out to this couple....and I bet they consulted a lawyer who gave them wrong advice ! I hope they stay and fight an appeal.
Looking on their website attached to this link they employ some locals - so they will be out of work now as well !!

Dread - nasty business
