I am beginning to think that Douglas is not one person at all. [ if he is, dickylewis appologises to Douglas].
My thoughts are prompted not only by his incredibly timely and informed responses but the fact that he appears not to sleep or have any other purpose in life other that respond to Goa threads which he should have no real interest in as he now lives in Malaysia. Response in the third party is also a clue.
His legal SME phraseology is scarry and what the hell does his wife do when he is on the net. I reckon he can be caught out... I am beginning to think Douglas is an 0900 myth
The icing on the cake was the funniest thing I have ever read, his tale of the Goan electrician.
My conclusion is that douglas is a bit like the BORG, a collection of fairly smart people with not much to do.

Douglas was a little fazed by this one, so i asked my wife for a second opinion. It went something like this.

D - Do you think that my story about the floor polishing electrician is funny, this guy called dicky thinks so.

Mrs D - Not really, i could have written it better myself, there is not enough " he said and i said " in it like a female would tell it. I am going to write a whole book about goa myself one day.

D - Dicky says i am smart, maybe even a compilation of smart minds , what do you think?

So that approach didnt really come up with very much, other than you tend to take each other for granted in long term relationships.

So lets just plod through it and tell you it how it is, as best i can.

Douglas really is just one person, all the things i have said are based on fact and real life experience. Alter egos should reflect the underlying character and morality of the otherwise grey individual and douglas is no different.

The multiple personality thing just grew from respondents trying to outwit douglas and douglas capitalising on the material that was being fed to him.

My debut on ex pats came about by just issuing a general warning to FNs about goa and it grew from there, i had no intention of becoming so involved.

What i now find fascinating, is the different reactions douglas gets, some think he is funny, some think he is sad, some insane, some smart. Maybe he is all of those things, who knows.

The reason i spend so much time on line, is that i am geared up to watch stock markets and constantly flick across to ex pats as a distraction. I am essentially waiting in ambush for fear and greed levels to become excessive, so that i can make some money. It can be quite boring, as real opportunities are infrequent, hence the gradual ex pat involvement.

I am very fortunate to be able to make money in this way, as long as i have a clear head and a telephone line, but i do have to put the time in. Markets are reaching a tipping point, hence the hours waiting on. Once the market turns ( and assuming i am happy with the return) , i can relax and do other things for a while.

Intellectual stimulation is an essential part of retirement, as is the physical aspect, so if im not on line, im in the gymn or the pool.The spiritual side just seems to take care of itself, when you lve in a beautiful place.

As you say, in some ways goa is a rear view mirror for douglas and he has little to gain by being here. However, these debates and the act of writing things down do help to clarify my thinking and i genuinely am trying to help my fellow creatures. On a subjective level, i am also looking for new info, but havnt yet found a super douglas to provide it

When i get confirmation of my long term visa for malaysia, i can buy a bike and Miss Alluring and i can get out more.

Well bugger me; I tried to google dickylewis and the fourth item that came up was a utube St Ives thread and there........................on the beach in a beautifully shot (with my very cheap camera) was Mrs DL!!!!!! Imagine my suprise when she looked bugger all like Douglas and appears to be a bird!

ps this is a beach near Godrevy and is absolutely fantastic (ask those who surf). We often go to the cafe near the national trust car park for lovely breakfast.
